Seriously? Who cares? She lost the heat running all out as hard as she could. Not smart. The story is Henes won her heat and looked like she was jogging and ran a 4:15. She will win the final. Henes is the story! The Tuohy talk is really getting old. Henes ran smart and like an experienced runner. Tuohy ran like a high school freshman and got out kicked ...... again! She is talented but one of the worst racers I’ve seen at that level of running.
Freshman gets beat in a race, crazy...

That was an amazing performance!!!!!!
So a true freshman ran like a true freshman? Ok.
Nuguse getting Olympic standard (3:34..) in 1500 prelim should be the headline!

I just want you to know that I agree with every single word you just said.

in women's running age really doesn't matter that much if you're as talented as she is, they develop earlier. shell be as good now as she is when she's 22
gets a 2 second PR, people continue to say she won't get better. have been saying this about her for 3 years now.
everybody talking about all the people in her class who are truly better than her. she is still standing. still at the top. maybe it won't last forever. but she will continue to improve.
and for what it's worth, the senior she was racing appeared to be going just about as hard as her, while setting a 3 second PR.

So I assume you must think she ran contrary to her coach's wishes? As far as the final goes....Michaela Meyer
Goalposts keep moving. It went from she has peaked in high school and will never pr again to well she just pr'ed again (by 2 seconds) but she will still never get better.
The 5000m will be interesting, It starts about 2 hours after the 1500m final.

She always did in high school, that is well documented. Watch Henes’ heat and you see an athlete doing what their coach said! I’m sure the coach’s instructions was not to run all out as fast as you can. Henes will be the one to watch tomorrow at the finals not Tuohy. Tuohy will be in the race until the end and fade as always and will run a slower time.
And once again, I’m not against her, I’m just sick of all the attention she gets when she is not even the top runner on her team. That is a slap in all her teammates face.
4:12 is great, but that should have been saved for the finals. Even then it takes away from the people who out perform her.
Not sure what your gripe is. I don't see any other true freshman doing so well. Nothing wrong with noting that. Nor does that take away from anyone.
I don't understand your comments....are you upset that Tuohy lost the heat?? Or that she ran hard?? Or just that she gets attention??
I agree that Nuguse's run was incredible...but this was also a prelim race wasn't it? Why is his race a good one and Tuohy's bad?
Usually, you don't want your runners to be PR'ing in the heats unless they need to do so to make the final....but looking at the final list for both the men's and womens side, the majority of the athletes PR'ed.
Wasserman and Meyer will be tough to beat.
Don't have the ACC network, which is too bad....looks like some great races.

NC State true freshman (are we still allowed to use that term after PSU ruling?) Gionna Quarzo 5th in the 10K. Not too shabby.

She’s still an 18-19 year old, you could be running similar times 4 years apart but as a person you change and grow completely by that point, an 18 year old being a little bold makes sense, frosh be frosh

"Who cares" ? well, if were being honest, pretty much more than your fave runners' fans combined ~ kt kinda got, fans .. no matter you like it or not.
Katelyn has a lot of fans and rightfully so, she's still running and improving every race
this thread has old men who thinks they know it all and are getting mad over a freshman who ran 4:12 vs a 5th-year senior who ran 4:11
what dumb planet do you even belong to, of course katelyn will not be winning races, yet.
the point of the comment was simple, to update about her progression and improvement, it funny because the same men like you have said that she will not ran faster than her hs times, and now that she ran faster than her hs times, you're gonna put "she did not win" as a new alibi
just straight up bs, if you dont like to talk about katelyn then dont join the conversation and make yours, you can't force people to like certain runners just as how we cannot force you to appreciate a freshman like katelyn tuohy
okay so there it is, people hate on a 19 year old freshman because she gets more attention than a 5th-year senior on her team and basically everyone else....
elly henes is running her best this season, and it took her 5 years to do so
where were you when shes running just like tuohy and always getting outkicked on meets? you can watch her previous races and even as a junior and senior she falls in the end too just like katelyn ... why weren't you criticizing ?
i really hate it when people compare katelyn to the runners on her team, katelyn has so much respect for them and shes lucky to have fast teammates, to be able to help her progress and have bigger goals
but you have showed why you are pissed, it boils down... not about racing, but attention
