Good writing skills! Where are you from and do they drink much?

And I doubt you've ever been to the ghetto...Try walking down the street after dark on Martin Luther King Blvd.. You can walk down the street in any redneck trailer park in the country with no fear..
I taught four years in South Central in the 90s and never had an issue walking the streets or playing ball on the courts. I’ve spent enough time in ghettos across the USA to know only the weak of mind and body area afraid of them. But I’m not some wimpy key board warrior talking a big game on LRC. The fact is a white person may catch some flack in the ghetto but they’re also the safest off. No one is really going to do anything to them because the police will roll in HARD.
But the ghetto is still far more dangerous than a hillbilly trailer park....No comparison.

Translated to "black people are so much more dangerous than white people. No comparison". Just another bigoted white supremacist. America is full of you guys.
This is a fun thread. The question may as well be "Which group of poors do you like to sneer at to bolster your own status?"
Armstrong still defending his "tribe".
Puerto Rico is the closest to third world status.

This isn't hard to figure out. Just find the poorest areas.

Which is precisely why they are Trump/Rep voters - and that is from an empathetic POV.
Has to be Albany. I have a friend who is Albanian, and I can't believe the stuff she tells me about her hometown. The kind of crazy poverty that I can't believe still exists in this country.
Wouldn't that be an Albanite? An Albanian would be from Albania.
Have done several cross country road trips including one that essentially circumnavigated the US. Also have lived in both rural and urban areas from DC, Baltimore, SW Virginia, Boston, southern Maine, NW Florida and spent a lot of time in SoCal.
Lots of people are saying urban areas have it worse... I have never felt unsafe in the Barrio (San Diego) or in downtown Baltimore or in Roxbury/Southie. Firearms are also (statistically) less common and laws tend to be more strict, plus as a white person I always felt pretty safe. Yes there is poverty but cities have resources like food banks and health care facilities and homeless shelters which are few and far between in rural areas.
However, I was legitimately afraid to ride my bike in NW Florida because people in big ass trucks thought it was fun to try to run me off the road and/or brandish guns. The trailer parks/compounds in Eastern KY/appalachia and Florida panhandle/gulf coast are something else. And the spot that takes the cake by far is Clovis, NM - building legit did not have glass in the windows, there were no people to be seen, and trash everywhere. Just, wow. Arguably these places are not that bad on a global scale but it's hard to call ourselves an advanced nation when places like this still exist... IMO we should be doing better.
Red states.
Gary, Indiana. /thread
This study of mobile homes and crime in Omaha, Nebraska concluded that there was no association of crime and mobile home communities there, even though the population was poorer in mobile home communities than elsewhere. The population was whiter, poorer, and older in general, with more home owners (but land renters) than in public housing.
There were fewer men in the highest crime group as well. Nationwide, the average income for residents of mobile home communities was $28k vs. $41 nationally, but just $13k for public housing residents, at the time of the study. So, public housing residents have less than half the income of mobile home community residents. The two areas have similar disadvantages in location.

You’ve actually never spent time in a “ghetto”. You’re just a skinny white dude who is scared of his own shadow.
Eastern Tennessee and western West Virginia - meth has absolutely ravaged a lot of the areas of Appalachia in those parts. It's really sad.
Like many others have said - Areas of Central Florida are pretty bad. That whole section of 301 near Starke is completely destroyed or abandoned. Also, the north tip of West Virginia, while definitely not the worst of the state, (Boone county comes to mind) isn't great. I was driving through Weirton earlier this year and the difference between Weirton and nearby Steubenville, OH is like night and day. And that area of Southeast Ohio isn't much better!
Now if we're talking more inner-city 3rd world, I got to go with Gary, Indiana, and the East Chicago area. It's on my list for obvious reasons, but do yourself a favor and fill up in Valparaiso and don't look back.
East Cleveland comes in a close second for me. Driving into Mount Pleasant, anad the Forgotten Triangle (Kinsman) from nearby Shaker is an incredible difference.
Usually the answer to this question is the Mississippi Delta. It’s supposed to be pretty much Third world…dilapidated towns and men hanging around doing nothing.
Surprised more haven’t suggeted there.
I’ve lived in many big US cities…they aren’t third world, not a chance. The rural poverty in thr usA is the third world part.
I think these things called Colonias exist on the border, essentially dirtier versions of favelas.
