The only thing that actually worries be is that ~55% of adults say they will get the vaccine. 25% undecided. 20% no. & that's just adults, as in that doesn't include children. So what happens when anti-vaxxers or someone who heard one of their 53 inaccurate messages being pushed & is taking the "wait & see" approach now walks around maskless. Are we going to still see high case numbers? Is the risk not there for people who have gotten their vaccines? We can still carry it and an alarming number of people are not vaccinated. Makes me think I should keep a mask handy.
I can tell you this is precisely what we are talking about at my hospital Precisely! Worst people will now not wear masks, the people who are part of the solution will actually continue for longer. Ironic.
Well, the CDC information doesn’t actually indicate that mask mandate should be lifted. This seems more like instruction on how people should behave with regards to gatherings in their homes or other private areas, not businesses or public areas.
I can tell you that where I work, it’s still going to basically be universal precautions. We will assume nobody is vaccinated, and have according expectations. The alternatives are either exposing our clients to a level of risk beyond what the CDC recommends or singling out people who have not gotten vaccinated. As it is Covid transmission has caused our clients a lot of suffering, and singling out people would destroy morale. I don’t see either option working out well
I acknowledge that some states will use this as a reason to open everything up anyway.
