Section 2AAA will be another section of death. Edina, Minnetonka and EP will all be in it. It will especially be the section of death on the girls side. Prior Lake was moved to that section too.

I love the photo that leads off the Milesplit article. That's Wayzata's Abbey Nechanicky (#13 in Bill Meylan's preseason National girl's rankings) doing what she loves to do. Here, she's running at Minnesota's Gale Woods course, pulling away from the rest of her Wayzata teammates & all of the Edina girls (in green).
Worthington Boys haven’t been to state in forever, now they are #1 in the preseason rankings for class AA.
Adding a class will do that.

PA moved from 2 to 3 about a decade ago and it was the right move. Prior to schools with 1k students were getting annihilated by all the 2k Philly and Pittsburg suburb schools. But they were still too big for the small division. Having a middle of the road division gave them an opportunity to compete at the state level.
Good discussion of the Minnesota girls.
I saw Abbey (the correct spelling of her name!) Nechanicky run a hilly 3200 a few days ago. She looked really strong & fit.

7 guys under 16 in this race.
Wayzata boys win with 133 points.
Southwest - 134
Minnetonka - 136
Southwest and Minnetonka boys haven’t been to state in a very long time.
This could be the end of the drought for these teams.
If Southwest had a 5th runner, they could have had the potential to qualify for NXN.
Also, sophomore Sam Scott wins over the #1 ranked runner.
Times are fast this year on the hard packed courses with no grass from the drought. In 2019, it was one of the wettest years on record and all the courses were muddy or soft. In 2020, there were no big races. So this is the first time in three years we have had big meets on fast courses in Minnesota. That could make a big difference in some races.
With the three new classes, this could be great to generate interest for teams that suddenly find themselves in the rankings and top runners who are putting up big numbers.
