I'm excited! These guys have been full throttle doping for nearly a year! We might see sub 12:30.
You mean like the Ingebrigtsens, Coevett?
Still impersonating other posters, I see, Mr. Integrity.
This is exciting, but I feel like this is not the first time he has requested a quick pace and then runs 13:00.
Maybe Barega is fasting these days. So he is not in full form.
I don't have personal infos about him but in the reportage he said everyday when he get up from the sleep (at 5:00am or 5:30 am) he do his prayer.

Who was the winner? I see someone by this name but don't see them in any database?
LOMUKET Mark Owon
Did he forget to put on the super spikes that are confirmed to work?
Poor Zakayo, looks like he just doesn't have the legs anymore. I can't see him making Tokyo at the age of 38.
It appears that Mark Lomuket did indeed win this race. One can see he has done OK in a few cross country races but background info on him does indeed seem scarce.
Mark Lomuket
He presumably is still relatively young as in this race from 2019 he was on the boys category.

I feel like the other time you're referring to is when he went out hard and Kiplimo beat him after backing off the pace. Both guys ran 12:49-50, so I wouldn't really fault him for going for it there and coming up short. In moments like today's race, we are seeing how difficult it can be for even the best athletes to hit a fast time outdoors. Indoors where you have perfect conditions and no wind, it's a controlled environment and set up to run near your PR every time if you're in shape. Outdoors, especially if it's not a big stadium your chances might go out the window immediately on the wrong day.

0/10
13'01"68 Mark Lokumet
13'02"47 Selemon Barega
per Margherita Magnani's post
Barega also went out in 1:50 in an indoor 1500 this year. Love his mentality, even if it doesn’t usually work out for him.
Barega? Who's that?
Des Linden: "The entire sport" has changed since she first started running Boston.
Ryan Eiler, 3rd American man at Boston, almost out of nowhere
