On Facebook I read he wants 60-61 per lap and hopes to break 12:40

Barega is a legend. He may be the best in the world currently.
Any hope of a live stream? Or link to live results? Does anyone know when it starts?
Edward Zakayo and Oscar Chelimo also in the field. Unfortunately no Kiplimo, who I thought was occasionally stationed in italy for training. Still should be very exciting.
He never has won a big one,not a legend.

I agree he’s no “legend” yet, but he may be the best 5k runner of the past 3 years, which has to count for something. If he’s really targeting sub-12:40 it will be the second time he’s done so; even though he came up short the first time (12:49 and out-kicked by Kiplimo), he must believe it’s in his wheelhouse. His 2021 indoor results (3:32.97/7:26.10) help back up his claim to sub-12:40 fitness.
Maybe not today/tomorrow, but at some point, with modern footwear, I fully expect Barega to join the sub-12:40 club, and maybe even take away Bekele’s NR.

One of only 5 runners to run under 12:50 more than once. The others are Kenenisa, Haile, Daniel and Hagos. He might be about half way through his running career. He is a legend.
I'm excited! These guys have been full throttle doping for nearly a year! We might see sub 12:30.

Interesting to see Edward Zakayo. He has been "out of business" since he in September 2019 failed to qualify in the 5000m for the Kenyan team for Doha WC 2019.
probably will be some stream in less than 1 hour here

Perhaps one of those silent doping bans where they make an agreement (perhaps for money) with IAAF (remember the Diack's took bribes) and they can't compete for a year or two in exchange for not making the doping test or ban public. Happens more often than you'd think.
When is the race?

Started.
Looks slightly windy.
Pretty hard to hear/get splits. It looked like right around 2:02-4 through 800 to me.
