Wow. Just wow.
Is there a video of these races online?
On Bowerman's instagram they posted yesterday saying he was pacing Sean. He was always going to DNF

Well good for him.
Evan Jager only ran 2000m of the steeple today serving as a rabbit.
I was watching on my phone so I didn’t notice it but Jon also said he had what looks like a bruise to me on his shoulder

Sean McGorty got the win in his debut but Jager clearly has worked to do before the Trials.
He was pacing. Looked pretty good too.
So this is a complete nonstory, then. Why do you kids do stuff like this?
He will need to run 8:22 either before or at the Trials in order to go to Tokyo. I would have thought he would want to get that out of the way.
Reminds me of when the athletes did 'cupping'.

Yes. USATF.TV.
Absolutely cupping.
Evan is dealing with a serious right deltoid injury.
It is amazing he could get even that far with the seriousness of this issue.
Covid has been Hell for Evan... so much video gaming (or whatever else you use your right hand for)
He did look sensitive on his right foot today. And kudos to McGorty on his debut. But his hurdling is horrible. 8:10 if he didnt loose so much on every hurdle. It'll be different with more upfront traffic.
Looks like a liver issue.. that's not cupping. Maybe he removed his tattoo of Coburn?
I thought people had stopped using that method. Seems like a 2016 thing. And aren’t the bruises normally cup-shaped.
What I find curious is Jager is sometimes referred to as pacer and sometimes a “planned DNF.” That terms sounds as absurd as cupping does.

What's curious about that? All pacers are planned DNFs.
if you see a clear pic, the bruises are clearly cup shaped. yes, people still do cupping.
definitely all seems odd, though..

Is that akin to Rush Limbaugh cowardly dodging the draft by claiming a pimple on his butt?

Dodging the draft is the smartest thing a boy could’ve done back then.
Jager pacing McGorty always planned . . . not racing a non-issue as he explains:
