Sure, just like Mark Coogan wouldn't have much of a clue how to train a miler since his best event was the marathon. Sweet jesus, Ritz's efficacy as a coach has little to do with his own running career except the access it has granted him. He either has the curiosity and capacity to learn new coaching skills or he doesn't. Only an idiot would operate from the basis of "this is how I trained so this is exactly how you should train."
