Yup. First man under 10 and epic performances for double gold in 1964 Olympics. Oh, and a NFL HOF/SB ring.
Wow. Double gold? That's so hot..

But way better than I expected, and major props to him for showing up and racing! Respect.
My guess was a 10.5 so he is a hair faster than what I rhought. I am guessing he might get down to like 10.2 by running a few more races but I sort of doubt he gets faster than rhat without losing like 20lbs. You see this with HS who struggled to match their HS times in college because of the weight gains they did for football. Obviously know nothing about how he has been training.
He's not getting better in a few races.
There are too many things that have to be fixed.
1. He is a big dude, but that's not his only issue
2. He spent all his work in football with his feet and ankles taped. He gets no drive off his ankles, and so his race is all picking up his legs and putting them down. He is in incredible shape though. And fit like no one on these boards.
3. Because he really doesn't accelerate properly he never gets up on his toes and reach his optimal speed.
4. Its takes years to build a consistent, great hundred form/ race. He makes more money in one game than he'd ever make in a year in track.
5. He doesn't get to hit anyone.
Guy held his own, especially considering he weighed 40 pounds are more than pretty much anyone else in the field. Dude is a freak of nature. That fast at close to 230#, incredibly long arms, 27 reps on bench at the combine, 4.33 in the 40. Had they all run in football pads and in cleats on grass, he might have been the fastest due to his superior strength. That is scary power. People need to stop acting like NFL football players can't be top level track and field athletes. Willie Gault was on the world record 4X100 meter relay team and would have been in the Olympics in the 100 hurdles had we not boycotted the games. Trindon Holliday (10.00 PR) was an NCAA track champion and beat Walter Dix in the 100. Darrell Green (10.08 PR) was a D2 track champion (and allegedly ran a 4.2 40 at 40 years old). Supposedly Bo Jackson ran a 4.13 electronic timed 40 during college. Bob Hayes ran 10.05. Jeff Demps (10.01 PR) had a brief stint in the NFL.

I think this is a straw-man argument. Most people are aware that a lot of NFL players were track standouts and are very fast.
The lazy analysis is done the other way when people say they could either jump in off the field and be world-class (untrue) OR that they would definitely be world-class if they chose track over football (also untrue). There's a huge amount of development that goes from high school to college to the pros. There are, I'm sure, a few exceptions over the years, but the best sprinters in the world compete in the Olympics. They are not typically lost to other sports.
Jeff Demps is a great example of this. High-school record holder, good college career, couldn't cut it in NFL but is not competitive with sprinters who developed further.
Agree with Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe. Didn't think I'd say that. DK running that great at that size and weight with limited 100m sprint background is freakish.
Can we talk about the elephant in the room? He’s a football player. He shouldn’t pursue track because then he’s in the testing pool. One that actually tries to find drugs.
i wouldnt say limited.pro footballers do lots of sprints as part of their training.meanwhile harry akines-aryeetny is bigger-and faster- than he is.
Randy Moss was likely a 9.9ish 100m with training and focus. One of the 5 fastest NFL players of all time
