Crazy how people are talking all this trash before they even heard any news.

Most of them are not going to believe Julian anyway.

This is what the site lacked until it brought in a real journalist to actually find stuff out. Thank you!
By the way, you need to re-read your meet preview, because there were a number of grammar/usage or spelling errors in it.
I said before that if you take injury-resistance into the frame of "talent", it may well be that Hoppel is the more talented runner.
I don't think Brazier's chances are nearly as strong as last year. I think he's still the Olympic favorite but I think his odds of winning are about half what they were last year. (maybe 45% rather then 90%). I feel Lyles is the same way. Of course they could both peak perfectly and make me look totally wrong. I was also getting worried Jager. Hopefully, tomorrow he puts an end to that. Huge jenny Simpson fan but don't think she will make the team. I think the men's 1500 team is looking really week.
I thought Woody looked fantastic rabbiting that 5000. But no-one seems to have him making the team. Maybe he has said he's not trying for the 5000.

Correct. But weldon made a good point. Almost all of the reasons for a pullout were bad and Julian confirmed it. Good logic Wejo.
If his ankle is off, why risk anything racing scrubs?
Because that is what the rest of the USA is to Brazier.
I hate to break it to people on the Hoppel bandwagon, but Bryce isn’t even in the top 10 challengers for Tokyo. Bryce is a 1:44 guy and Brazier is a 1:42 guy, and there are 10 other people sub-1:44 in qualifying so far.

Hoppel ran 1:43.2 in 2020.

Hoppel also had a very good indoor opener
hoppel is also racing
Dumb chart doesn't even have right times. Face it, brazier is a has been. He's done. PEDs have worn off. He'd be lucky to make a final now

Better than Hoppel so far this year.

Brazier 1:38.6, take it or leave it.

If he was any other nationality, that would be the consensus opinion here.

Very smart and absolutely the right thing to do.
Donavan Brazier is the best male US middle distance runner and the United States’ best hope for Olympic gold in men’s middle distance.

Barely broke 1:45 today.
Ouch.
51.1 / 53.6.
For a legit contender, opening in 51+ you'd better be coming back in under 53.
Or else you are 1:44.whatever like Bryce today.
US goes 1 / 3 in Tokyo
Bryce best chance for medal for US.
This happens all of the time in track and field; last minute "no shows" involving major attractions. That's one of the reasons the sport is on life support.
