I'm working on the homepage tonight and came across an article about the death of a 3-time Olympic champ Tamara Press. She and her sister both won Olympic gold for the Soviet Union but were jeered at by the Western media as The Press Brothers. Many thought they were intersex or possibly male, apparently.
Due to the uproar, gender tests were implemented in 1966 and both sisters promptly retired.
One article said their gender is a secret they'd take to their grave. I thought that was bizarre.
Does anyone know if they ever had children? That would be one way to figure out the secret. None are mentioned in any article I see. Did anyone see how they lived the rest of their life? It's been like 55 years since they competed. You'd think some journalist would go see how they were living their lives but maybe not in the Soviet Union.
Anyone know more than what's in the articles below?
