Copper Teare and Hassan Mead also entered.
nijel amos in the 400
Hopefully it’s just a teaser for them both being ready to run faster in like 5 weeks.
actually, sam tanner is better than the oregon boys part 2?
Stacked field...
But where is Centro?

The world is more than Oregon guys.

Tanner has packed it in for the NCAA season. Building strength and mileage up for Tokyo.
wow, that is a new and exciting strategy that certainly nobody else is doing
A while back before Cole Hocker became a thing, I boldly picked Yared Nuguse - the 2019 NCAA 1500 champ to make the Olympic team. As Hocker has amazed and Justine Kiprotich - the guy Nuguse edged for that 1500 title has struggled to break 4:10, I've admitted that pick might come back to haunt me.
But Nuguse has been running well, he just hasn't touched the 1500/mile as he ran xc and then has been in the 5000.
We'll find out about how he looks in the 1500 this weekend when he races Hocker in Oregon.
Anyone know if he's been healthy? This is the ultiimate slow play on the track season as he's only raced once - the 5000 at Raleigh in March and conference is next weekend. This meet wasn't even on the ND schedule.

I’ll pick Hocker based on the fact that I’ve seen him race and win a 1500m this year (also taking his indoor form into account) but I wouldn’t be shocked if Yared won.
I agree with Rojo (can’t believe I’m saying that), I had Yared as a dark horse for rio after 2019
Don’t forget to delete/hijack the original thread on this so that yours appears first.

Anyway, word is Yared is healthy, just not quite 1500m racing sharp.

Tokyo not rio 🙄
Is Cooper Teare running it or doing pacing duties? It looks like he is listed in the startline as well. I also see Charlie Hunter and Luis Peralta in the lineup. As for the race, anyone who bets against Hocker right now is setting themselves up for failure. That being said, it does seem like Nuguse has put up some solid results recently, getting 23rd at NCAA XC and winning Raleigh Relays with a 13:40 in the 5k. Not bad for off events. I hope they go for the Olympic Standard this time and break the Collegiate record.
Gonna have to go with Hocker this time.
I got to see YN run a few times when he was in high school, and while he was good, his level of greatness was not predicted.
That said, Cole Hocker is insane. At this point, it appears he and Nico Young are leading the charge of young American runners (Cooper Teare gets a nod too).
Hocker by a hair...

Olli Hoare was also beaten in that race, and he’s been running pretty good nowadays. Kiprotich shouldn’t be the only benchmark.
Still, hard to have high expectations for someone’s first 1500m in two years.
Nijel Amos in the 400 should be fun, I love watching that guy run the shorter events. He races like a moron but he's fun to watch. For this early in the season I would expect he runs like 45-high.

He just ran 45.69 so I wouldn't surprised to see him go a few tenths faster. But as you noted it is Nijel, so who knows.
