Not sure why anyone would be a fan of such mediocrity period. Mediocrity combined with an attitude that presumes one is better than one is.

Anyone else notice the missing rail on the first turn? I'd guess some Lowell resident made off with it to sell it for scrap metal to get crack money.
I should've have laughed, but I did.

Look m8 times don´t matter in championship racing. Doesn't really matter how you start matters where you close. 6:08 is slow no denying that but it doesn't matter that they went out slow due to the circumstance of the race. If you want a quick 10k then college conference championships where you got people doubling back the next day aren't the place to look.
No ones asking for a quick time. I specifically wrote that. The race was entertaining, I didn't say it wasn't either just to out that out there. There's going out slow and there's actual jogging. As a fan that's not too much to ask for in my opinion.
I agree that it was definitely an entertaining race to watch, even knowing the outcome before watching it. It was cool to see it play out, including the slow opening mile which was simply a case of gamesmanship in an overall weak field. One of the better slow 10Ks I've ever seen, and I've suffered through too many predictable conference 10Ks (sorry ladies, you never made bold moves). I get saving your legs for the 5K in short turnaround, too. I also agree that the commentators were really enjoyable, too. They were well-prepared with compelling filler material (and stimulants) for this race.

Exactly! There is just no need to have a fast pace in a race like that. They obviously know they are fit and can finish off the race fast at the end... would of be pointless/meaningless to give it a hard effort the full 10,000 meters
The same people on here claiming it is ok to give a half*ssed effort are the same ones complaining about Lebron James taking nights off for "load management."

To the average person (non-runner), 6:08 looks just like 5:08, or even 4:38. All looks the same to them. So no, this is not the reason track isn't popular.
The average person doesn't watch track, so I guess in some way, you have a point...

You're entitled to NOTHING as a fan and you should be embarrassed for asking for anything at all.
Do you say the same thing about fans of the NFL or NBA?
NBA players can play and succeed when tired. They’re just lazy. Runners actually have to be recovered in order to produce results. Even more so when they are going up against athletes who are fresh. There’s no teammate there to pick up the slack if you’re tired like in basketball.

Not really the same thing.
The similar comparison would be if Lebron didn't score X pts because he was dishing it off to others in order to win a championship instead of trying to score some all time number of points in a championship game.
The going for broke no matter what folks would be like an NBA player greedily trying to score 100 pts in a championship game and not caring if his team won or not.
In a championship game the most important thing is to win... no get a PR.

100% yes. Entitled fans are the worst, especially when they try to dictate how athletes are allowed to protest.
I can't stand these comments...
A bunch of people gather on an online discussion board to anonymously trash this dude's championship race. He logs on to publicly defend himself. Then some hack "Dncirk" calls him a loser for defending himself...

Of course the dude is a loser for defending himself. He had nothing to defend. There was nothing wrong with his race but now he shows he is an epic loser by coming on here. Really sad actually.

around 5 years ago, I watched the first 800 meters of an olympic 1500 final go out near 4:35/m pace. Almost exactly Kipchoge's sub2 marathon pace.
Putting it in perspective like that is just crazy.
That would be like me, a 4:05ish 4:23 guy taking the first 800m out in 2:35-2:40. I just can’t see how anyone would let that happen. I can run 8k at that pace, and I’m not by any means an 8k guy.
Still the silliest race I’ve ever watched. I used to think it was a full mile they ran in the olympics, and I was still disappointed by the time.

Try a little harder to get this guy to reply to you. Why don’t you go for a run instead of trying to pick fights with athletes online while hiding behind a username.
