Hellooo,
So I have some questions that some might be able to help. First of all, I never ran in HS and was not athletic either. In March of 2020, I decided I wanted to be a runner. Ever since then, I have been increasing my mileage and improving my time. I started running about 4 miles at a 10 min pace now I run 6 miles at a 7:10-7:40 pace (about 4x a week). Last month, I reached out to the XC coach at my cc and told him I wanted to join the XC team and he told me to start training. He gave me a schedule to follow for the next 3 week (it's pretty detailed so if anyone cares to see it lmk). I really really enjoy running and working hard and I have been busting my butt off. I am now running 6 days a week, taking sundays off. With that being said, I am still adjusting to the schedule he gave me so my pacing/time has not been the best but I think it should improve. So to get to my question-- we start training this summer and season starts in the fall. My question is: Is there anyway I could get enough by the time I transfer to a 4 year to run at a D2 level? I really want to keep pursuing running and I will be transferring Fall 22. The schools I am thinking of are UCI, UCSB, UCLA, UCSD (top choice, dream school), UCB, CSULB, CSUF, SDSU, Cal Poly SLO. I understand that my stats are not great right now but my coach told me I have a solid foundation under my belt, I am just not sure how good I can get with summer practice and XC season.
