I know guys that can barely break 7 for a mile that could do more than 3 push-ups with the form you're specifying. Need to clean up those numbers Shammy

And these are skinny dudes who are training for 5k and under, albeit relatively new runners

Your guys must have some BIG noses! Unfair!
i promise. if you are doing 33 or less push ups on hands, it will not hurt you one bit to do some version on your knees for a month or so. well you might want to put your knees on a pad to protect them. but 33 push ups is pretty weak. but the la sierra high school jfk days pe class tended to do multiple sets of 7 push ups in between other activities.
you might want to look up an old challenge of david goggins. it worked up each week. i think it went up to 21 x 21 push ups on the minute. not a very good plan to get to 50 straight but fun.
you might want to do 3 push ups on your knees. rest for 5 seconds and do it again. every now and then add another set of 3. no need to pop your brain just be patient. get it up to 33 sets of 3 with about 5 seconds rest between each. then start push up your season.
yeah yeah...then start your push up season. youre welcome. no more excuses. maybe just not trying.
@ElGuerroujFan
ive done 1000 pushups in a day (could knock out 100 without rest), but i can barely break 6 minutes :(
You say start lifting boys as if 33 pushups is some incredible amount lol
Gonna go the opposite direction as most here — I can hit a 4:40 mile and I can barely do 3. Lol, there is no scientific or logical basis for this.
Also, why on the knuckles? Sounds painful and unnecessary.
Skip to 2:50. These type of push-ups aren't "f***ing around".

You need to be mentally able to take the pain. Push-ups on the knuckles with nose on the floor takes the ultimate pain tolerance and it must be trained.
You have supreme talent only doing 3 with a 4:40 mile, imagine what you can do with greater mental pain endurance?
On my phone now lol. I remember that thread. I find myself regretting my previous excitement from improvement. Now I can do 60ish push-ups with ease... such an embarrassing thread...
How many can you do with the form I specified? I can do 16 on a rug, a few less on a hardwood floor...
These numbers aren’t impressive and I’m sure I can find someone who can run a 4:30 that can’t do 13 perfect form push-ups. In case you haven’t noticed, runners are kinda skinny.
I can do 50+ push-ups why am I not a sub 3:40 miler I don’t get it
Anybody can "do push-ups". Doing them on your fists and to-the-nose is another thing...

I just redid the test with the aforementioned rules, I got 15 which should sit me squarely around 4:20. It all makes sense now!
This is a very accurate predictor

Strengthens the Wrist, Many Eastern European Boxers Russia, Ukraine etc. do push ups on knuckles.
It has to be on concrete, preferably on a road otherwise it's to easy.
I also have a freakishly high pain tolerance though, otherwise i should be running sub 4
I actually run 520
