Peanut Butter, half Bagel, some Gatorade, Water about 2 to 3 hours prior to race.

10-15 minutes of easy running.
8 to 10 minute break.
Four x 10 second strides at race pace.
3 minutes break.

I recall running a warmup, then a trip to the bathroom. Jogging back. Next was a walk to the line for some strides, followed by a squat to flex the knees. Then another stride and to the line. We didn't have much of a warmup back then because our coach didn't know racing. He was a basketball coach.
Sorry, I misspoke. XC coach was a basketball coach. Track was a football coach.
I might jog about 0.5 mile, stretch, maybe a couple sprints, and then race.
