So as most people know, next%, alphafly, and other high stack carbon plated racers are banned at higher level meets, but it's not the case for high schoolers. So I was at a track meet with people from all over California, and while watching the 1600m, I saw exactly what I expected, Mambas, lots of Vic 3s, a couple of dragonflies, and like one pair of air zoom victorys. Then, later in the evening, I watched the 3200m, and saw something I did not expect. I expected a lot of dragonflies, as that's pretty much the best spike for longer track races. Instead, I saw a lot of next%s, one pair of alphaflys, a few dragonflies, one air zoom victory, and the rest had mambas or vic 3s. So my question is, how much do super spikes or next%s help in a 3200m? How much would super spikes help in a 1600m? Are next% or alphaflys better than super spikes for anything above 1600/mile?
