With Sydney running 3:56 tonight in the KC Qualifier...is this the end of the Tinman Elite? He was beaten, handedly, by Tom's athlete Brett Myer (3:40).
Didn’t Sydney run a 13:2x a month or so ago

considering they don't have a coach, but also considering the many claims that they just raced whatever events they wanted and TS didn't have a say, not sure why this was the time for a 1500. Syd clearly is more geared for longer distances, and it seems a bit early for a little speed tune up considering the trials are mid june. He's already got the standard for the trials, I'd just continue to train or maybe do a 10k for some strength work.

considering they don't have a coach,
Wrong. Look at their website, they have Cory Leslie listed as coach.

Why is everyone so worked up about them having “Tinman” in their name? The real crime here is the use of “Elite”.
bump
I was at the trials of miles KC last night and saw Tom speaking and coaching Brett Meyer. He had a great race! A big last 300.
In general the race got out quick and most of the field was paying for it over the last 600. Sydney went for it. Was at 1:58 at 800 and 2:29 at 1200. He just blew up. He will be ready for the trials in the 5 and 10
I meant Sydney went thru the 1000 in 2:29

Sounds like an idiotic racing plan to me.

3:43 pace through 60% of the race is an idiotic plan?

When you add 13 seconds to that pace over the final 500m, it sure is. It's "high school freshman who just watched 'Rudy'" style. Definitely not something an actual pro would do.
Sydney would regularly be absolute trash, and then unbeatable and then back to trash in his college days. He ran pretty bad all indoor season in 2018 I think, and then 13:29 in a race with Jager at Azusa. And then 3 weeks later finished like 18th at D2 nationals. Rumor was around D2 that he didn’t handle stress, life changes, or pressure very well. Give him time to get used to whoever is the knee god-sent Tinman coach and he’ll be fine.
So you could say he... got a booty?

He won the 3k and 5k indoors in 2018, the issue was he ran 13:29 doing a lot of work in the chase pack then ran the 4xMile at Penn Relays like a week later rather than recovering from a huge effort in the 5k

Okay, this has all been great conversation. Putting aside who's at fault, the one thing that's clear is that Tinman Elite should not be Tinman Elite without Tinman as coach. We all know who Tinman is--its Schwartz. The law can't really change his public persona. TME should, out of respect for Schwartz, change the name at least once they get a more permanent coach moving forward.
#ChangeTheName
I agree and in my opinion it's not a big deal to change the name. They should keep the logo and change the name.

I don't think that would be a good name because the guys are not liars and scammers.

you know I have been thinking a lot about the good and bad of tinman elite. Recently one of the best things I can think of about tinman elite is that they definitely aren't doping. They go out there and have so many bad days that there is almost no way they are doping. Guess that has to be a good thing.
