A discussion on aging athletes (I think Tom Brady was mentioned) came up while we were drinking. A buddy of mine who's in his early 30s and still quite active insisted that he could outrun anyone twice his age by this summer if he wanted to. A former D2 track guy then bet him $100 that he couldn't do it, and not only was he willing to take the bet, but he raised the stakes to $500.
To collect his cash, he has to beat one of the men's masters 65 year old records, which are:
100 - 12.31
200 - 24.65
400 - 56.09
800 - 2:14.3
1500 - 4:39.8
There are obviously other M65 records in addition to the ones mentioned above. But I've only included those times since trying to get a fairly explosive guy (he's a recreational hiker/climber now but played football in HS) to put in the work needed for a 10K or marathon just isn't going to happen, nor can it be done in such a short timeframe.
So which record is his best shot, and which one(sl should he not bother with? The sprint times need to be electronic times, but there's a local all-comers meet that can provide that.
