Cutoff is 7:47 under, BAA just reported to Twitter
2:52:35 not good enough :(
Though 8:22 under, I am still waiting on an email (time was not auto-verified)
Whew, no Hardloper.
I just now got my acceptance!
"Congratulations! Your entry into the in-person 125th Boston Marathon on Monday, October 11, 2021 has been accepted, provided that the information you submitted is accurate." Etc.
As I wrote in my first post I had a good time margin and also qualified in 2020 so the BAA had my verification already.
Good luck, again, to all of you.

Yep did not get in. Bummer they are going with the smaller field size when I think that will be unnecessary by race day. My race is eligible the 2022 window, but I don't think I have enough cushion. Another factor is I will be 35 for 2023 so that might be the surest bet. Haven't run in supershoes yet either. I feel confident in 2023 I definitely get in, but for 2022 I need to race again.
"The qualifying window for the 2022 Boston Marathon will begin on September 1, 2019 and will continue through the conclusion of the to-be-announced 2022 Boston Marathon registration period later this fall."
Does this mean that I can use the same race (which took place in December 2019) to register for the 2022 Boston Marathon that I used to register for the 2021 race?
has anyone's athelte's village been updated? mine says "bib pending"

Yes, I will be using my Chicago 2019 time for Boston 2022.

Ditto. I'm 32 minutes under and still waiting.

Id love to know when it ends. I wish they gave a better idea than “later this fall.” I’m planning on racing the weekend of the Boston. I figured they have to include all races up to Boston 21, at least. I wonder if they’ll push it all the way to NYC.

My random guess would be that registration will begin Tuesday October 12th and that Boston 21 will be included in the qualifying window. Obviously a later window than normal but I don't know how they can avoid that.

2022 should allow anyone who was previously accepted to the 2020 race auto entry. It's so fun being on the outside looking in with my nearly 5 minute cushion from just months before the 9/1/2019 date.
I missed it by a minute. Bah!

A friend of mine missed qualifying by 19 seconds. A woman posted an image in a Boston Facebook group showing she qualified by just 1 second. Every second can count in a BQ race. Good to remember when running the last 10K of a BQ attempt when the one may be approaching the wall.
I assumed the cutoff would be more then 5 minutes. Many, including me thought it would be under 10 minutes based on 2020 qualifying buffers by accepted entries.
I’ve got over a 6 minute cushion, never imagined it wouldn’t be good enough. I coasted the last couple miles just to make sure I wouldn’t cramp up. Strange times indeed.
I had thought it would be this big of a cutoff until reading this thread, and let people convince me otherwise. Anyway, I'm excited to be back racing a big marathon this October. And excited that I can do so again in April if I please.

Same here. I'm 6+ under and won't get in. Very disappointing. Will try again for April, I guess.

In normal years, the general consensus has been 5 minutes was a safe buffer until maybe the after the 2019 cutoff increased to 4:52. Then the BAA responded by making the BQ 5 minutes faster for each age group as they don't want the cutoff be a lot higher than a BQ. The 2020 cutoff was 1:39 so a normal 2021 cutoff would likely be under 3. The cutoff for 2021 with the reduced field size would likely have been even higher if there were no travel restrictions for international runners. My estimate based on finishers for the 2019 race is that there were 4500 to 5500 international runners. Many likely did not registers. So with streaks may have chosen virtual option again this year since it will allow them to continue their streaks.
