I'm afraid the baa.org website specifically states that this insurance does not cover "If the B.A.A. and event organizers cancel the race due to factors outside of their control"
The insurance covers you if you get injured and cannot run or if there is severe weather that prevents you from travelling
Yeah, it's pretty much a scam. Sure there's injury insurance, but it's not the COVID/cancellation insurance people think it is.
I'm 3 minutes under the standard and I don't love my chances. Cannibalism from other races and international runner participation being way down feel like the only real chance. I don't feel bad for myself, but looking back I feel dumb for not doing my marathon in super-shoes. Also a completely missed opportunity last year as I think I was in 1:17-1:19 shape and could've ramped up to a marathon just before the deadline. But of course COVID ended all hopes of that. Anyhow, stupid as it is, I'll be 35 and suddenly probably pretty easily making it into the 2023 edition if I just tread water and get my super shoes race in.
