Imagine never hiring someone because they don't have experience. What came first - the job or the experience? It's like the chicken and egg paradox

Have they always done a time trial in early July?
I believe so. Since 2014 at least.
https://www.gohsathletics.com/page/show/6432190-time-trials-resultsWho cares? It's high school.
Nathan Lennox of Great Oak is an incoming junior not senior as listed in the article.
He ran the Cool Breeze freshman race in 2019.
Happens all the time. Why did they hire someone with zero coaching experience then?

The article states that Doug Soles didn’t know sh!t about running when he got hired so why would anyone care about new candidate background? My high school coach didn’t know jack about running and I ran 9:08 for 3200m. But he knew everything about motivation.
+1 million

Looks like a dynasty has come to an end. Many programs would be happy with those results, but big drop off from previous years.
Are the chances of Great Oak boys and girls going to NXN over now?
I thought I had read articles stating that families look to move into homes in the school districts of some of the top HS cross country or track teams. I wonder what some of these parents and athletes are thinking now.
In the 70's and 80's it was not uncommon for some families of talented basketball players to move into the school district of a state powerhouse basketball program. It helped that the families got help with housing and jobs for the parents. The school eventually got busted for breaking the rules.

Why is Soles leaving the program?
Because his family doesn’t want to live in California anymore.

He might be back. Larry Elders is hopefully about to become governor. Thank goodness because California is a beautiful state that’s been destroyed by democrats.
It’s called the teachers Union. They don’t care about her actual running coach experience or ability to coach. They care that she’s a “Union teacher in the building.” This is how Democrats operate.
Article from last August genius.
Then why are you in the high school section of letsrun if you don’t care?
Even with that, the boys team autoqualified
Notice how many threads this was said in. This means that a lot of people care.
14 sub-10s this year. 7 nonseniors.
You could say that the boys program didn’t disappear
not the fastest times at least much slower compared to last years but faster than the 2021 team that got 2nd to newbury at state and 7th at running lane. boys should be a state and national contender again however the girls look horrendous they may be finished for good
The girls team was finished last year already. They took 12th at the state meet in the merge, and 3 of their top 5 (4 of their top 7) graduated.
Their team appears to getting smaller too (not sure how many girls did or didn’t choose to do the time trial).
Only 4 freshman and 2 sophomore girls in this race. If no other freshman or sophomore girls are doing XC, it appears suspect, especially for a school with 3000+ people
