So you’re in a restaurant. Let’s assume you can afford to eat there or you’d be in a less expensive restaurant. Do the prices of menu items influence what you order? No matter how much money I’ve made or how cheap the restaurant, I can’t shake the habit. And I always remember being 8 in a fancy restaurant and my father snapping at me that “This isn’t Chili’s” when I accepted my third $3 Coke from the snooty waiter.
No matter how much money I make, I still value my food based off of what I’m getting out of the price. I was at Whole Foods yesterday and was astounded by what shiit they offer at double the price of competing stores. Nothing in that store merits the high price tag that it is given, it is all a status thing. I walked out without buying anything and got the same food at the grocery store next door for half the price and better quality
