As of right now I do an SMR session after each workout and a light, five or so-minute roll and stretch session before recovery runs for ROM and injury prevention. From what I've read it seems that SMR before a workout would just break down tension in the fascia, decrease power output and make your muscles sore for the workout. Yet there are still people saying this is really important. What evidence supports SMR as a warmup? Is it still beneficial even if I do it to recover after each workout?
