Hey guys. Sorry for the long post. I want to get some suggestions from the letsrun crowd as to what they think I might have. Over the past year I've had an array of symptoms but the main ones that seem to always be there are:
- a difficulty hinging my hip on the right hand side. It clicks, feels sore and pulls on my sciatic nerve when I try to do something like a single leg deadlift (I used to do these fine and could easily pull my body weight on each side).
- externally rotating my right leg seems to irritate something in the hip. I have good mobility here according to the physios, but if I work the movement under any load I get pain deep in my hip. Think warrior's pose in yoga or positions like that or even just several clamshells.
- a constant tightness in my right sciatic nerve and hamstring that no amount of stretching, resting, strengthening and massaging seems to treat. I feel I've tried pretty much all of those and various combinations.
In summary. Moving my right hip seems to irritate the nerve. I can't for the live of me work out the cause. One day in the first half mile of a jog, I got a shooting pain down my leg and that was the beginning of it.
I've seen 5 different practitioners now and am waiting on an MRI scan. Due to the nerve irritation and the fact that this has been going on for a year, I have all these other minor symptoms that seem to cloud the main issue and act as red herrings for therapists trying to treat or diagnose me. Things like: sciatic pain down my right side, and the various pain points that causes, groin tightness and soreness, QL tightness and soreness etc.
I haven't properly run since last April and have no idea as to the cause.
I wonder if it's a labral tear or FAI. Anyone had anything similar and could offer advice? I really hope someone does. This is making me so miserable.
At its worst it hurts to lie on, walk on, sit and/or drive for long periods and bend down (attempt to hinge the hips) and at its best, I can sleep, manage walking and it's not too bad to sit on.
