Intervals crank up your metabolism. Weight/Strength training also brings up your metabolism and burns almost exclusively fat.
Do strides more often, and do more of them when you do them.
If you aren’t doing intervals, start doing intervals. 300-600m is best for the HIIT effect. They don’t need to be breakneck fast, just fast enough to get you breathing hard.
A bovie will do a pretty good job of burning fat.
1. Wear a heart rate monitor and stay below aerobic threshold as much as you can in your running. Running too steady all of the time is great for a huff and puff, but really you burn mostly muscle glycogen and just replace that in your next meal.
2. Try muscle building movement (strength training, steep/short hill sprints, plyos) to increase muscle mass slightly and thus, metabolism which will consume more of your own fat during fasting (overnight).
3. Store less. Eat well and eat when you are hungry. Don't over-stuff yourself and don't eat when not hungry.
4. Be lean.
Eat a light dinner and just have a bowl of yoghurt if it's hard to go to sleep. You can get pretty near anorexic looking like that.
Long sprints are best to lose weight (250-400m).
Weight training to gain muscle also boost your metabolism to help you lose weight.
Realistic answer is how ever much running you can do in a day and repeat it almost every day. For most people that is probably 3 hours maximum in two runs. You could even walk all day and probably even burn more fat than by trying to run.
