OK whatever but some would make arguments about Athing being pretty or not and I am not sure why it should be discussed.
I have never opined on her looks, but why do you have a problem with someone who does? The body is a physical article, capable of observation, and creating an impression in the mind of the viewer.
Expressing that impression is every bit as legitimate as expressing an impression made by a person’s observable actions, like running an 800. Mu is 18 years old, a few months from 19. She is a young woman, and as a matter of class probably knows how to take a compliment.
Please explain your irritation with the poster’s comment, I would honestly like to hear it.

Nobody suggested that “it should be discussed”. It was the poster’s decision to discuss it, because it apparently interests him or her. You are also free to choose the direction and content of your own posts.

My irritation is due to the fact that many may think she is not pretty and so why is it a subject of discussion? If you were smarter you would anticipate where this discussion could be headed.
You have insulted 1/2 of the posters in this thread. Have some sensitivity. We were not all born as smart as you. Do you ridicule disabled people for not getting out of your way fast enough?
I apologize.

Again, it is a topic of discussion because it interests the poster. Neither you nor anybody else need entertain any such discussion, or even be subject to it, unless you wish it so.
Also, what do you feel gives you the authority to peremptorily object to possible directions of other peoples’ conversation? I submit that you overestimate your importance.

When you say many may think she is not pretty, I take it to mean that you think she isn't. Let's focus on her fantastic performances.

how about let's talk about how pretty she looked crossing the line at 1:57
https://www.instagram.com/p/CN3iWl5lfGV/that does not look like the face of one who just broke a collegiate record

Sweet Jesus, the grammar in the comments...
I'm not saying she will run the WR but she has the talent Those times may been run by dopers but it was over 30 years ago. So someone with the talent 30 plus years later can possibly break their tainted records.
Athing can possibly and should run sub 1:56.5 this year. Her true 1500m best is probably 4:10-12 at the moment. So if she can improve her strength more without jeopardizing TOO much of her speed, yes she could challenge the record in the next 3-9 years

1.53? If so, we will know she has doped.

Not without doping. Have you seen what Kratochvilova looked like?

athing looks clean, which is extremely unusual for an american athlete. They usually look like theyre on various cocktails(even the college athletes),but athing is tall, lean, pretty, femenine, and not muscled. Its possible shes on EPO but she shows no sign of steroid use.could she be a born to run once in a lifetime talent?
She might be. But that still won't beat steroids.
Mu's best 400m is 50xx; Kratochvilova's was 47xx. So how is Mu going to run faster than the Czech over 800m, whose wr has been unsurpassed for decades?
Q: what do you think Krato would have run cleanly?
Mu would be at 1:47 if she took the same 80’s sauce.😁
Some of that 80’s stuff really worked. Who could forget when the Bulgarian weightlifters were suspended. Heaviest guy to do 3x bodyweight, Genchev, incredible. Pocket Hercules. Krato, Koch, FloJo, BJ, shot put, 1988.
Etc. That dope was insane, but I still don’t think any of those athletes were the most talented so far, except for maybe someone like Barnes, or Genchev.
So how fast does Krato go, clean?

Watching the race yesterday, I thought that she resembled a typical 49/1:51 type male runner in physique and form. I just don't see how she doesn't get down to 1:53 which would be slow for a male with her speed. I realize that women are different but she has the size of a male which makes me think that she will more closely resemble their time ratios.
The 800m math for boys does not work the same for girls. She appears to be in 1:56 shape right now; I can see 1:54 in her future. Obviously, you can't say 1:53 is out of the question for someone who has run 1:54, but 1:51 would only be possible if she becomes a 47x quarter miler.
good observation.
you want to consider also if the athlete is a sprinter type, or an actual middle distance type.
Mu runs 1500, and has a 23 second 200m, which makes her akin to sebastian coe, who ran distance in his youth, and moved down to the 8. and back up to the 1500.
Mu has a progression opposite to your average phenom, there shes rapidly picking up steam instead of hitting womanhood with crash and burn.
with a front run negative split, and a full effort (she had a bit left) you are assured of at least 155 now.
and you're talking a 49 quarter in the future, something which gets you a medal in the OG.
at the end of the day, Mu is a special one, so all the formulas won't work so well on her
if mu progresses this next year and does not collapse and stagnate, then you're talking near WR for that girl.
you can say that.

I still make the point that in nearly 40 years no clean athlete has gotten near Kratochvilova's record. I don't believe it can be beaten without doping.
I don't doubt that Mu is an exceptionally talented athlete - at 18. But she may not get a lot faster. Amos peaked at 18 and never ran faster. She, too, may be an early developer. I could pick that she might - might - get to 1.55xx. But no faster. 2 seconds over that distance is a huge margin of improvement.
Agree with all that, but also agree with longjack that she might be 1:55 right now. 2 seconds from there is:
Mu cannot be compared to Coe, who was exceptionally quick (45xx flying 400 while also a wr miler). Her speed and talent may be more comparable to Decker, who was also 23xx athlete over 200m. And how fast did Mary get over 800?
I further don't think Mu will get much faster over 400 (she's currently a 50xx runner) as those running in the 49's are much quicker than her over 200, being mostly sprinters.
