Nah bro, hate to break it to you but the pandemic is raging on and there’s a very real possibility that the Olympics will be cancelled. AND THAT’S A GOOD THING.
Japan is just getting into its 4th wave of infections and their vaccination campaign HAS NOT EVEN STARTED YET, there’s 5500 people dying every day in Brazil, Europe is also stuck in a massive Covid hole and is in total shambles, the US and Central/South America isn’t doing amazingly either.... So I’m sure that the Japanese government and the IOC both know that if they were to hold a massive event like this with tens of thousands of people from around the world entering Japan and being close to each other for weeks, that would just create the perfect unimaginable disaster.
And just a few days ago, a leading Japanese politician (the right hand of their Prime Minister) said in a TV interview that cancelling the Olympics is very much on their table, and if the situation won’t start to shows signs of improvement in the next ~2 months than it will be the “only viable option”.
So let’s just hope that common sense will actually prevail and that they won’t hold the Olympics, otherwise this nightmare we’re living in will get a WHOLE LOT longer.
