Pretty sure he's had a phone for years, his old drink of choice was Red Bull but now it's "Torst" because they pay the fee.

and according to canova, he once slipped up and claimed that EPO didnt work like we all think, but instead it was able to get your aerobic capabilities up as if you did years of high milage
The ingebrigtsen thing has been attempted in the US
Zero percent chance he ran that much as a nine year old. He’s still a “kid”and is embellishing like the vast majority of people do on their resumes.
It would actually sound better if he went the other way and said that he only runs low mileage like Brazier. To say that he ran that much at such a young age indicates his progression is just about done (think Lindgren).

He went to a Kenyan style school exactly 6 miles from home as they all are in Kenya.
Ha ha. Yes, 6 miles is mentioned so ofter. I'm pretty sure I read that Lagat lived 1.5 miles from his school. But he ran to it in the morning, then home for lunch, then back to school in the afternoon and home at the end of the day. That sums to 6 miles per day. Plus he had to milk the cows or do some other farm chores.
It's well known that Kenyan milers live no further than 1 1/2 miles from school.

That kid was only running 50 mpw at 15.

Yes, he's had the phone and looking at the phone is all he does outside of running. He sits around all the time otherwise. So, he's a typical 20 year old, except for the running. Suppose he had instead been an active kid all day long. Maybe he'd be beating Cheruiyot.
sounds like Nico Young training at a young age.
Joshua Cheptegei, just like many top African runners ran about 10 miles a day as a child to go to school every day as well.
I think high intensity training and too much competition at a young age is the main cause of burnout - not mileage.
I don't hold much stock in the training age concept. Some athletes can train hard from a young age and continue to improve, like Leo Messi, Ronaldo, Rafael Nadal, and LeBron James. Burnout comes from loss of motivation rather than loss of physical ability. Jakob could still improve for the next 10 years if he wants to
I think it is more accurate to say that you can train a lot (high mileage) from a young age and continue to improve.
It is, however, important not to train too hard, especially not anaerobically!
I think one of the secretes behind Jakob´s success is his trust in father/ trainer Gjert´s training instructions.
Jakob: I always do the training Gjert prescribes and I am never doing more. In this way he has avoided overtraining which avoidance is a very important point in Gjert´s trainings philosophy.
But he has trained EVERY DAY for years before the age of ten starting training twice per day from Easter to around July each year already in his preteens which obviously has paid off well.
It is also interesting to hear that they do have sprint sessions (100 and 200m with spikes 1 to times per week).

Not sure if this has been discussed on here but I found these comments really interesting. A journalist translated some comments from a podcast Jakob did and he apparently was running quite a bit before he was even double digits in age.
"When I was 9-10-11, I was running 120-140 kilometers some weeks." That's 70-80 miles a week.
Are we going to see US parents trying to start copying this? The success of Jakob is unbelievable but that amount of training is unhear of in the US. Does it sound accurate to you all?

He will never be as fast as Galen Rupp
That's a very interesting post, if true.
18 miles a day is still hard for untrained runners. Did he have good genes and avoid getting injured? Was he a runner by nature?
Where in Indiana was this?
To be fair, they didn't develop the interstates until the 1960s and 1970s and major road networks around Indy until then, so it may actually be accurate.

pretty sure his 1500 times are a lot better than Rupp's. Probably gonna be faster at 5k pretty soon too.
Jakob is also faster in the 3000m.
I agree that it is only a question of time before Jakob runs faster in the 5000m (Jakob´s 3:28.68 in the 1500m and 7:27 in the 3000m indicate a 5000m in well below 12:50).
If Jakob stays healthy he will also in time break Galen´s 10.000m and HM personal bests.
I doubt Jakob will ever run the marathon.

At what age did he begin doping?
I recently watched Team Ingebritsen. Between the talk in the show re Jakob’s training and the comparison to what they did for Ingrid (“like Jakob”), it’s clear he did start training at 9 but it sounded like 11 was when they flipped the switch for more serious training. At 13 he went to attitude camp with his brothers to see if he wanted to pursue the professional runner path. There’s even a statement that made it sound like that camp experience was his first time doing doubles and he ended up suffering a minor overuse injury as a result.
So, it’s not explicit on the show, but my takeaway was that it seemed most likely that he started regular running (but not daily) running at 9 (tho roller skiing and other endurance related stuff earlier), daily training at 11, then Team Ingebritsen-style super high volume at 13. His PB progression would line up with that timeline as well.
This is still far more than others at those ages, but not as crazy as the statement in the OP.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
