There were many other sites that were much better than Milesplit all across the country, but they came in - through a promise of money at state associations, who then stopped access for all these other sites to the meets and did the same with meet directors of large weekend races so the other sites who did everything better and for free were kicked to the curb.
Oh yeah, then Milesplit never followed up with the $$ promised to the states.
I noticed late last year that Milesplit is becoming the monopoly in high school running coverage, and that they have made more of their content subscription only. They just announced a deal in our state that Milesplit would take over exclusive coverage rights (they paid off the state's athletic association). I refuse to support organizations whose strategy for growth is restricting competition. Bring your A game and compete if you really want to be the best.
I am mainly interested in womens running. The class of 2020 was particularly exciting to me because it was so loaded with talent, but I don't want to pay multiple sites to follow running. Since so few high school female stars end up being relevant later anyway, it was an easy decision to stick to flotrack and just enjoy college and pros.
You can still track some results for free on Tullyrunners. He often posts relevant results from national races.
