Is Milesplit doing any good for the sport of running on the high school level? Is this the best high school running coverage can get? Should it be better? Is it good enough?

The local coverage is an abomination. It's on the level of a high school newspaper...only take away the editor. It's terrible. Maybe some states have decent correspondents, but the local articles I've read look like a rough draft from a community college freshman.
The national coverage is sparce but respectable. More in line with what you'd see on flotrack.
It varies state by state for sure but our state and some are probably good
But our state just does the same thing every season which is post "rankings" of different grades or classifications that are just descending lists of performances.
Their coverage is just reposting data from the database. The videos are from moms and dads who are at the meets so all you see is their offspring. The video people theyve used have all stopped because they weren't getting paid
I have seen many factual errors in their historical pieces.
It is nice to read positive feel good articles but often these too are laden with inaccuracies.

I think for coverage of the best athletes Dyestat/Runnerspace is far better. Milesplit does far more coverage though, of varying quality, and does post far more videos of races. I think their rankings are worthless. Their performance lists does provide all of the results in one place, but the reader has to determine the real significance of the list. In many ways, Milesplit seems like more of a cheerleader than a journalist organization.
Milesplit is excellent on the national level. They have weekly hour long video podcasts with interviews and great coverage.
Local levels vary wildly. In CA we are lucky to also have prepcaltrack covering our sport.
I think it varies state by state. I've gone on other states' versions and they can be a lot better or worse than my state.
Milesplit, FloTrack, Let's Run........
These sites are run by amateurs who just happen to share the same love of running that we do. These are not sites with million dollar budgets run by seasoned entertainment executives.
These are runners trying to share their love of running the best way that they can. All of these site are wonderful in their own way.
Where else am I going to go to get up to date High School Track information? - MileSplit
Where else can I go to see cell phone videos of Galen Rupp running 10X400's - Flotrack
Where else can I go to engage in political conversation with toxic, victim obsessed progressives - Let's Run
I throw money at all of these sites. Just bought my bright YELLOW Let's Run shirt that I will proudly wear at the Spokane Half Marathon this weekend where I will crush the masters field as usual.

I should add, in balance I think Milesplit is good for the sport, but I think it could be far better that it is in many locations.

+1 good luck brother
Milesplit is great for the sport but too many people post "facts" that aren't verified and are incorrect.
Each state site in milesplit usually employs one or two people. It is a great place to get a calendar and results. Yeah, there aren’t a lot of stories, but it is more than adequate.

After one writer in particular left the website in my state their content has gone down hill a lot. It’s also ridiculous that you have to have pro account to access 80+ percent of their content. It’s gotten to a point where it’s just useless information and the few people that actually do a good job would probably be more profitable starting their own organization
Are you paying for it? I go on and most results are grayed out. I can't believe we are paying to get a list of results of a high school track race.
Not video, just a list of historical results a few days after the meet.
I miss coolrunning
There were many other sites that were much better than Milesplit all across the country, but they came in - through a promise of money at state associations, who then stopped access for all these other sites to the meets and did the same with meet directors of large weekend races so the other sites who did everything better and for free were kicked to the curb.
Oh yeah, then Milesplit never followed up with the $$ promised to the states.

Complained enough times about their system for logging runners on your team. It's downright awful. Change a name or delete a runner from your team? It reflects on EVERY race they have ever done for the history of time. You can't change a person's name or ever delete a runner.
Also all runners will have at least 3-4 profiles that are not linked and no way to link them. It's just idiotic.
I agree it is ridiculous that you have to pay just to see results of the High School race your child ran in. Cannot otherwise obtain results from the school or the coach.
The high school level is a significant piece of the running pie. They take in subscription money from parents and coaches who are some of the most engaged running fans.
Bring back NJ Runners!!!!
