I would generally agree with your post...My problem is that this gentleman is misrepresenting himself in his ad. I live in the area, I run in many of the local races, and I place in my age group in almost every one of them. My times are nothing special (34:15 10K, 16:51 5K), and there are certianly not "thousands" of people who hang around after the race to see someone get an age group award. In fact, most of them leave after grabbing a few snacks at the finish, and a handful stick around to pick up thier awards. Not to mention the fact that I have never heard of him, and it seems that I have been in at least a couple of races with him. I generally look at the local results to see what others are doing in the area, and I would have remembered seeing his name.Running is a great sport. Everyone can do it, but some people need to realize that they may not be as "good" as they think they are.
