UGA came back with 430k base offer + bonus 75% of that with top 3 finish for either gender so an additional, potential 322.5k bonus.
I need to rethink my decisions in life.

Stop with exaggerations. Leave the guy alone. I heard from numerous sources UGA AD is a clown.
What exaggerations? Leave who alone?
The previous AD retired in December and has nothing to do with what I posted. The interim AD Josh Brooks- I heard- is at least generally supportive of track and field but that's all I know about him.
‘Generally supportive’...of himself I heard.
So even if that is the case, what does the AD being a clown have to do with the other comments such as the salary post I made? McGarity is the one who made that offer, not Brooks.
Who exactly should be left alone?
Petros is the clown and is probably the only person posting in his defense here. Petros walked away from a very good situation because of pride and ego.
Yea your right!lets keep beating up a guy that won national titles for his teams and somehow wants out..not sure who’s circus is this...
I believe he is posting in his defense as well. I still wonder what program is he heading to.
Yep the letsrun Sherlock holmesss lol because he doesn’t have a single person that likes him right?

I was told at one point a few years back he was asking for around $700k and he had told administrators he had other suitors who would pay him that
Told by whom? Sounds like he was asking for that sum for facility improvements.
So many athletes around here think a job’s value can be determined just by salary. In coaching tfxc there are so many other factors. Number of scholarships, budget size for assistant coaches, weather, school admission standards, tuition, conference strengths, school reputation, cost of living, and yes facilities all factor in.
Any track program that has to share facilities with an almighty P5 football program like UGA has knows what it feels like to beg to have access to a place to train, indoor or outdoor. Ask UW about that.
Sprints, hurdles, and field events pretty much need a track facility to practice their events. There aren’t a lot of other local training venues for pole vault or hammer, for example. In the winter, you literally cannot perform half of the field events in the rain or after the rain due to dangerous, slippery conditions, so indoor is important even in mild climates. Gymnasiums will do, but you need access 5 days a week.
So yeah, it would be aggravating to work as a field event coach with potential national champions and not have facilities to train them. I could see that being a deal breaker for a field event coach.
I was just passing on the information I had been told. I don't have to be sold on the value of facility improvements and UGA/PK has earned such an upgrade, it would seem, with their performances at NCAAs. As fans of the sport most of us would like track & field to receive better treatment, have better facilities, bigger contracts, etc.
He was apparently asking for 700k as a base salary and the facility improvements he was seeking were separate of that. I heard the most important facility he sought was an indoor track.
Ok, got it. I wasn’t trying to sell you in particular on these ideas, just this thread in general.
And, in terms of being a multi coach, Petros definitely SIGNED the two best heptathletes coming out of HS back to back. Kendell Williams had scored 5500 in HS. Anna Hall set a HS American record with a score of 5800 - a score that would have won D1 nationals a few times, Hall’s HS mark is doubly impressive because the heptathlon is a collection of technical events that few high school students are able to master, maybe because it’s hard to access talented event coaches in HS, or maybe because the kids who can run, jump, AND throw at such a high level are usually in 3 HS sports per year, not just track. So yeah, clutch recruiting.
Yeah, getting elite hept. and dec. sure makes the job easier and then to his credit he does not just ride the talent he continues to develop the elite recruits.
So many high school athletes are often not on teams that have individual event coaches so that limits the development of many. We've all heard (or seen firsthand) the stories of kids in technical events who are left to create their own practices for those events. The head coach will often say go hurdle, go jump, go throw etc. without much more than that and little to no supervision. In some cases it's an extremely small staff and in other instances just lazy coaching.
It seems like people on here keep pointing fingers at the Georgia administration. Are they really the bad guys here? Yes they could cave in and give him what he wants but will that really make him happy? Lots of departments are scared to make financial promises right now. Petros is the one leaving. Not because he has to leave but because he wants to. He is turning his back on a bunch of kids with no sane or rational reason to do so. That team is loaded and primed for a national championship in the next year or two. They should direct 100% of their frustration at him and only him. I bet he made them a lot of promises during recruiting. I am sure he promised them he would be there for all 4 of their years and beyond.... but now he is a bit frustrated and off he goes. Even if they gave him an indoor track in 2-3 years it would not benefit the kids on the team right now. So those kids must feel pretty discounted and used. To follow him those kids would have to presumably move across the country, lose credits, and have to start all over building a new network just so he can show Georgia how dumb they are to not give him what he wants....assuming he finds another home. Seems like they had great success with the facilities they currently have so is it really so bad there?
Great points. Petros gives me narcissistic person vibes.

And you give off,
"In my view, my daughter was wronged, but moved on and is now enjoying a lot of success at Texas, AND YET I STILL CAN'T LET IT GO AND MOVE ON FROM THE TOPIC OF PETROS AT GEORGIA,"
vibes.
p.s. People who plaster themselves all over social media in the name of "building a brand" also give off huge "narcissistic person vibes."
And you give off a completely insane person. I am not related to Tara Davis whatsoever. In fact, I do not have any children whatsoever. You need to take your medication. lol

Just so you know, I always say who I am..... No need for me to hide behind a keyboard. Good vibes from Tara's Dad. AKA Ty Davis
Thank you, Mr. Davis! They keep thinking I am you for whatever reason. lol
I would be proud if Tara was my daughter. I mean who wouldn't?! However, Hook 'em! lol
