anchors start @ 6:50
I think that Drew Hunter comeback was better than this, it was never really a competition here. Still crazy how dominant Tuohy was though.

its quite funny but unfair how people just shrugs off an impressive dmr comeback just because its katelyn tuohy...coz people always have it in our minds that katelyn's gonna win no matter what, but if this was another runner (it would have been viewed differently)
ps. there was competition coz kelsey chmiel was there ahead
Kelsey Camille has a better one on YouTube. She comes for about 40 45 seconds back. Funny it's against North Rockland but obviously Katelyn Tuohy was not anchoring
Anyway Katelyn Tuohy had a better DMR eighth grade New Balance national outdoors. It was probably her most exciting race ever, she held off Destiny Collins anchoring in 445, and Collins ran like a 440
But the cool thing was she let Collins catch up to her and then held her off for the last lap where they basically ran side by side the whole way. Pretty cool for an 8th grader
Anyway how come you don't have the whole Raleigh relays 1500 meter up. There's some guy on this site who said he was at the race, I think he lives in Raleigh, you should try to coordinate with him maybe he can video tape some of their stuff and put it up on YouTube
Alright check out the eighth grade New Balance national outdoors, you should put that up on your YouTube channel
katelyn was hella back too at 5th and split a 4:38, chased a fast anchor,
for kelsey, she didnt chase fast runner but chased a big lead,
both are different and impressive but still again, everyone seems just so used to katelyn winning that they just didn't think it was a big deal
no fans were allowed in raleigh relays, and it wasn't telecasted, so there's only that ..
um i don't think someone is allowed to go and record the wolfpack at their training in raleigh or at meets without their consent not unless its open for public or telecasted, the meets have been strictly closed for fans so its really hard to get race clips .. acc outdoors is coming so we'll have that !
Yeah this was a good race. It's just she kind of won by a lot. Anyway check out the new balance Nationals from two years before this Outdoors, much more exciting finish, I guess it was 2016 Outdoors, DMR
I remember in the Arcadia Invite 2017 4x1600, American Fork was in 8th after the first leg, and then the second leg McKay Johns put the team in first and continued to grow the lead.
Greatest comeback? Not even close. The girl anchoring the team in the lead at handoff was sub-sub elite on the hs level. Even though she had a huge lead, she looked like maybe ran a 5:20? Tuohy caught her not even half way into the race. As for Schmiel, taking her down wasn't a "great comeback". She got the handoff only a few seconds behind her and passed her pretty early on as well.
A "great comeback" in my opinion requires some serious competition and having to work a lot harder to overtake them.
Watch this for reference:

The best come back ever is of course Phil Healy's astonishing 4x400 anchor leg face plant come back at the tape win while the Irish announcers absolutely lose their mind at what they are witnessing.

Still brings tears to my eyes.
Heather Dorniden's wipe out recovery come back victory in a freakin 600 METER RACE is a close second though.

What happened I noticed the race got taken down off your site? Off your YouTube channel. Did runnerspace copyright it? How come they let you keep up the Middle School race?
Anyway you got to do something that makes it fair use. You can post videos as long as you cite fair use copyright laws. You have to narrator over them or make it so that it's 4 educational purposes. You have to modify them enough that it's a new work , look into fair use laws
So many good DMR memories. There was the year NR set the national DMR record outdueling Kate Murphy's team. There was the year Tuohy held off Collins almost the entire anchor leg to win the outdoor national DMRs. This race. The year they won the Penn Relays.
But have to say my favorite Tuohy DMR race was 2015 when she was in 7th grade at the outdoor New Balance nationals. Tuohy was this tiny little 7th grader running the anchor at the national DMR finals. It was 97 degrees. On the anchor leg she got into a major duel with two high school upper classmen that were a foot taller than her. All three traded the lead and kicked over and over. Finally at the last lap the first upperclassman kicks and Tuohy kicks with her and takes the lead. Then the other upperclassman kicks and surges to the lead on the back stretch. At that point Tuohy immediately kicks again and battles her down the final straight, briefly taking the lead once more before finally running out of gas at the line. Tuohy was so upset about losing that she came to a dead stop at the finish line and just stood there.
