Hi all. I have a few questions about base building and getting back into training. I recently started up again after about a 3 year layoff of next to no running. I have been fairly active over that time period with some runs added in here and there but nothing close to resembling consistant training. I stopped after my senior year college cross country season after being annoyed with constantly being injured but have recently found the drive to get back into it.
So far I have about three months of running under my belt and I have build up to about 35-40 miles a week. All of the runs are 4-7 miles in length and I usually run between 6:40-7:30 per mile pace. Since starting running again I have done no workouts and no long runs, just what you see above. I have never built a base before so I am not sure what I am doing and where I should go from here. More base? Start hammering 400s? My college only had a cross country team and after season I would basically stop running until early season training the next year.
My PRs are:
1:58 800m (H.S.)
4:40 1600m (H.S.)
17:05 5k (H.S.)
26:13 8k (College)
I haven't run a track race or 5k since I was in High School hence why the PR's are from there. Only ran the 8k in college.
