Anybody ever deal with non-impact related tailbone pain? First workout back might have been a little much and my tailbone has been hurting since.

I dunno. Seems like Lanc’s one HM performance is as good or better than his shorter distance races that he has focused a ton on. Moreover he runs a lot of volume almost all of which is at a very quick pace.
That said, I know if I ran a workout I was calling threshold pace and dropping a 5 flat and running 300s and 200s at 4 flat mile pace I would be talking about running a 5k well into the 14s so definitely time to take a crack at it.
Yea, I should be careful how I characterize paces...
1. 5:08 is not Threshold. It's basically 5k pace for me. But, given that I had stat to pace off of, I just took a hold of him and he dragged me along. Probably could have felt better on the 300s and 200s had I ran a 5:15-5:20 (as was the plan...)
2. My volume is fairly high, and I do run my easy days faster than some, but that pace just comes naturally and is conversational with running buddies, so I don't like to think i'm gaining anything or losing anything from those paces, just let it flow.
3. My half marathon still seems like such an anomaly to me. I mean, I ran it. 1:14:36 over 13.1 by way of GPS. It's still hard for me to figure out how that happened. It was a really good day where everything clicked, course was dead flat basically, and Alphafly's were on. I think more than anything I've "underperformed" on the 5k distance compared, and really need to hit one out of the park. I also haven't really "tapered" into a 5k for a long time. I've just run them at the end of a 70+ mile week. So there's that...
Anyway, I do feel like recently there has been a good jump in fitness, workouts have been phenomenal, but I feel more like a workout hero than a performer at races. So just need to shake that off and race more. I think the results will come with more races.
Also, if only I could stop drinking so much beer... I might get even fitter.
Not a sacrifice I can make right now with 3 kids under 7 in this house... so... I'll miss a few seconds. Big deal.
I didn’t mean my post as a poke by the way. I just honestly think you will ultimately have a ton of success at the HM distance. It’s telling to me that you had a really good day the one time you tried it and outperformed a distance you have run somewhat frequently. That said, you should obviously race what you want to race given this is all for fun.
