Nothing better to do in Upland, IN than crush threshold workouts. Tough to beat a full tan effort and 40 second 1-5 spread. Absolute unit.
OKC didn't have a 4 or 5, we've known that all year.
Seriously though what an performance by Taylor. Looking back the writing was on the wall. 6 of their top 7 qualified as individuals during indoor season, without doing any real track work. Now their performance at indoor nationals wasn't great, it was known that they were essentially still training for xc, while other teams (like huntington on milligan) were splitting their focus.
One really cool thing I wanted to point out was the roster of guys on that Taylor team. There is only one person I would consider a "high school stud" (Josh Roth went 9:12 in high school). Let's look at the rest of their team...
Alex Helmuth: 5th today overall. In high school ran 15:02 (3 miles).
Daniel Gerber: 16th overall. in high school ran 16:11 (5k)
Luke Rovenstein: 17th overall. In high school ran 16:48! (5k)
Derrick Van Prooyen: 24th overall. In high school ran 15:13 (3 miles)
Sam Hardy: 63rd overall. In high school ran 17:15 (5k)
Connor White: 65th overall. In high school ran 16:29 (5k)
That team just put up 73 points at a national meet. Every "mid-tier" high school runner should use this team as motivation.
I was in this race and started that next to Taylor. They’re whole team was wearing the dragonflys.
Actually a lot people up front had them.
XC is about team effort... but the coach has to control peak point...what happened to Saint Francis in the last 6 yrs....they cant perform at nats....but congrats to Saint Francis women's team.
Talyor coach is a great
I think st mary and Master uses that formula?

Also congrats to the individual National champions, Talbi and Wilson. Both are absolute studs and would put up a good fight against D1 competition. Talbi dominated the citius Mag 10k in Texas and ran a solo 13:43 5k on a flat indoor track at nationals. Wilson ran an impressive 10k debut in December in 32:38 and ran excellent at the XC town USA meet. Both are very gritty and tough.
Wilson was in the Top 7 for Illinois last year. I would hope she’d compete strongly vs. D1 competition
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
