training for 5k and trying to create a training plan thats a bit more aggressive. Ive trained for and raced 800-5000 for years with the typical tuesday/friday workouts and sunday long run schedule but have always felt like theres more fitness that im leaving on the table. the schedule ive come up with would look something like this
monday- unstructured fartlek, push harder and longer if i feel good
Tuesday- Easy
Wednesday-Threshold intervals. something like 5x2k or 2x3 mile maybe end this workout with some mile/1500 pace stuff when im closer to racing
Thursday-Easy
Friday-VO2 max workout, something like 8x1000
Saturday-Easy
Sunday-long 20% of mileage at an honest pace i like to dip somewhere between daniels M + T pace at least for a few miles at the end
rinse and repeat for 10-12 weeks and race
Is this plan destined to fail? will i be completely overloaded with essentially 4 quality days? should i go after this with a lower mileage than ive done when i was just working out tuesday and friday?
