Maybe I'm missing a thread about it but didn't see it anywhere else...is this not as rare as I think it is? Also seems like Rheinhardt could go sub 8:40 easily with better competition. Discus
Best Duo in Highschool currently? (best ever in Florida at least)

Almost the same is Colin Sahlman 8:47 and Lex Young 8:57 of Newbury Park, although Rheinhardt could definitely go faster than he did.

Newbury Park last year had Nico Young at 8:32 (3k conversion) and Jace Aschbrenner at 8:44. That's probably the best top 2 of all time. There have been a few teams to put 3 under 9:00 though, which is IMO considerably more impressive. One or two great runners can be done with good training and luck, but having 3+ at that level is very special. The teams I remember that did this:
Northport, NY went 8:53, 8:56, 8:57 for full 2-mile in 2014 (8:50, 8:53, 8:54 for 3200)
La Salle Academy, RI went 8:51, 8:51, 8:57 in 2016
An impressive stat about these two teams is both performed the feat in a single race. The day La Salle did it, another team, St. Anthony's of NY went 8:52, 8:59 in the same race.
Great Oak, CA came agonizingly close in 2016, going 8:51, 8:55, 9:00.2
As did American Fork, UT in 2017, going 8:44, 8:51, 9:01
Finally there is the legendary Hammond, IN team of 1975 with Rudy Chapa who went 8:51, 8:52, 8:56 for full 2-mile. The conversions are roughly 8:48, 8:49, 8:53 for 3200, making them as of now the greatest top 3 of all-time.
