I have run in central London about a dozen times plus the London marathon and I haven't seen the slightest suspicion of crime. What makes running in London horrible is the air pollution, to me that is far more dangerous to health than fantasies about people harming runners. A general rule of life is that if you don't go looking for trouble and understand how to project confident but non threatening body language, people leave you alone.
