Was he trying to catch Jack?
Naw...Just in a hurry to get home after a tough night.
According to TMZ, no warrant for cell phone records or blood (Tiger’s history is probable cause). There goes the LAPD again, not planting evidence.

Tiger has some serious issues. I thought he was likely on drugs and he crashed because of that. Drugs maybe contributed. But to find out he was nearly doubly the speed limit makes it almost worse. What kind of idiot is driving 40mph over the speed limit? A fukked up one. A reckless driver who can kill anybody at any time. The guy, who I used to like, is obviously driving recklessly all the time. I sure hope when he plows through a red light at 90 and plows into a family in a SUV killing them all the police won't protect him like the cops here did

Long history of LAPD protecting people in power, celebs, etc. Mostly it is because LAPD and prosecutors do not want to be burdened with having to go up against an army of high priced criminal defense lawyers. It is easier to give a free pass than to have to dedicate scarce resources when it is essentially a victimless crime.
Tiger needs to fess up and come clean about what is going on. Hitting 80+ mph on a residential street is not something that people do when they are in a healthy state of mind.
He also didn't brake.....Might have been a suicide attempt.

Someone who is trying to kill himself doesn't drive off into the field. They direct himself or herself to like a concrete structure like the Chesapeake CEO did.

No, his history is not probable cause, on it's own. However, likely combined with the other factors: single car accident, excessive speed, not breaking, etc. would lead to probable cause and the granting of a search warrant.
However, does more need to be done? He is the only one to have suffered and he has suffered a lot - including very likely ending his career forever. Other than the pain of his injuries etc. the financial cost of this accident to him (with the end of his career) is huge. How much more do you want to punish him? He's done a pretty darn good job of severely punishing himself. Obviously the police should continue their investigation, but, to me mostly it just doesn't matter, the guy is done.
I would have a driver if I would have that amount of money.
Tiger is a tragic figure. He was good in one thing and he is pretty bad in a couple of others.
So let's say I am on a rampage. I want to kill my wife. I grab a huge meat cleaver and am intent on slicing her to 1000 pieces. On the way I slip on a wet floor and fall breaking all my teeth. My jaw is broken and I am paralyzed from neck down. Since I punished myself so much I should not be prosecuted for attempted murder?
Because a very public punishment is a likely deterrent from this behavior in the future, unless he's a Grade A Narcissistic Sociopath like Cosby or OJ (certainly possible, given the available evidence). Without a trial covered by the press, this goes away quietly and quickly.
I'm glad he hurt nobody else, but that's only by blind chance. I'm not unhappy he broke his leg and that his career as a pro player could be over.

What a terrible person! Far worse than Tiger Woods.
By the way, people who hold their cellphones while driving cars should be the last people to moralize about anyone driving over the speed limit.
Used to live in SoCal, I don't see this as totally unusual because the vast majority of people speed when driving. If one accidentally hits a curb, they flip.

One of the first things done at the hospital would have been a tox screen. So no warrant means they just are not going to use it?? Sorry but, how????

Yeah those black celebs are the worst.
Not like all those good guys like the Weinsteins, Epstein, et al
Yes.

This. At least a driver/personal assistant would keep you on schedule and then you can drug/drink up whatever you desire with little repercussion to others.
He has no fallback option, except televised golf commentary.
I'll agree that OJ and Cosby are proven to be far worse people than Tiger, but that's because comparatively little is known about Tiger's personal life. Though what we do know isn't pretty, between his addiction issue and subsequent disregard for the safety of others on the road and his penchant for rampantly cheating on his relationships. His own kids probably see him as little more than an ATM given how he treated their mother. He sure as hell isn't a great guy.

Punishment?
Penalty for reckless driving in California
Speeding in California is automatically considered reckless driving at 15 mph over the posted limit.
First-time violators may be:
Fined between $145 and $1,000
Sentenced to between five and 90 days of jail time
Subject to license suspension of up to one year.
Yawn.
