I've seen NAZ elite doing 400s similar to this fashion too. I was wondering what are y'all thoughts on doing 30(or up Zatopek level of 50+) 400 reps with 150 rest for a long run workout? I'm thinking it would be good in the early build up phase to prep the body for the longer tempo type work for marathon training.
I truly admire Zatopek, but that is not the most efficient training that one can do. It was revolutionary for the day.
I'm not sure efficiency plays a role in this. This workout is an interesting stress, and really, not too crazy considering high school kids are known to do 20x400 just like this.
And, it would allow you to run more like you would in a race situation, rather than forever in a plodding form. I'm not saying this is a good idea regularly, but off-season or early in a training block, why not?
