What are some good old school racing shoes (no carbon plate or “magic” foam (e.g. Zoom foam) for half and full marathons?

Barefoot. All else is cheating!
Adidas Adios Boost are the best flat I’ve ever used, and it lasts forever. I had the 3s, but I don’t think they change much from year to year.
1400s are the best option from New Balance, but I’d say they’re a step below adidas in terms of bounce. They are lighter though, so maybe you’ll like that.
The Nike Streak Line also has a good rep, but I never tried them so I can’t really offer an opinion.
Keep in mind I was running 5-10k and tempos in these, so maybe you’ll want something a bit more cushioned like an adidas Boston, streak 7 or a NB 1500 if you’re running marathons and your stride isn’t super efficient
If you have a problem with Pebax, it's not like EVA is some ancient foam. And don't even think about running on magic asphalt or Mondo track-- not traditional at all. Barefoot on dirt or nothing.

Really liked the adios 3, but every version since that I tired on felt less like a flat. Haven’t bought any as a result.
Huge fan of the nb1400 for a no nonsense racing/training flat. Used them for speed work on the track all the way up to a marathon. They are cheap too.

You know there's other types of foam right? They've improved the foam over several years. Which foam are you hoping to find that you've deemed legitimate arbitrarily?

About the Streaks - I've been doing all my road racing 5k - half marathon in them for a few years now and they're great. I've also used the Adidas Adios and I like the streaks a tiny bit better, but they are pretty comparable.

The Streak 7 has a sloppy wide forefoot/toe box with a anorexic heal. Makes no sense. RC2.0 is a better shoe and lighter than Adios.

just come to the fun side bruh, it's fun over here. we're having fun.
Skechers Horizon Vanish 2
Ive never had the desire to try a high-stack racing shoe. Ground contact feel is part of the running experience that i desire.
Race shoes i own & utilize:
( brief reviews IMO, @6-7min paces)
1400 - i love, fit like a glove, 10mm drop with flexible forefoot = super smooth transition. But not enough forefoot foam for me at the distances in question. Sidenote: Outsole tread is great for light trails.
REBEL v1 - More comfort & performance over the 1400, foam is a tad softer than 1400 with a few mm more stack and stiffer forefoot. Solid contender to take HM and up. v2 has a bit more&softer foam so perhaps that one for the Full.
FloatrideRunFast - Similar to 1400 with wider toebox. Peba foam, but its low stack dosnt revel appreciable benefit over other foams(at my pace). Solid contender.
VANISH - Great for 1mile to 5k but toe box is too narrow for anything further.
Part of what makes these all non-super shoes is the price. $80 $80 $55 $65 on those through tracking prices and using promo codes. I'll take a 4-car garage with several sweet rides over just 1 Ferrari any day.
I was trying to look up an old pair of shoes for you that I used as racers and really liked and this came up.

Ummm. Was this ever released?
All shoes are "cheater" shoes so go f yourself for continuing the nonsense of calling the new racers "cheater" shoes when everyone has a comparable flat. That being said, Adidas Adios Boosts are the greatest flat in existence for training and racing(before the carbon fiber plate shoes came out for racing). People who workout in super shoes are idiots.

Sorry, Chris Everett, but plate shoes ARE cheatershoes. They're a lever, companies even promote the shoes as such, and that's in violation of common sense. I don't care what foam any company uses. That's not a mechanical assist. A lever is, unless you think you can jack up your car to fix the flat tire, without one.

Truth!
The Streaks were great, but they seem to be off the market now, alas.
