Human body weight is not equivalent to a weight vest. The latter is not functional at all and it is not something someone carries around all the time and therefore develops physical adaptations to handle.

Amazing that in 2021 we STILL feel free to comment so judgmentally about women’s bodies.
OK, so do you want this thread down (no discussions about men) or to be able to discuss women's bodies? Which one is it?
Engels and Murphy are not 800/1500 runners

How about Engels and Murphy?

Agreed. Engels at 3:34 and 1:44.68 is *nationally* competitive, but not internationally relevant at either distance. Murphy, while no-doubt a 800m star, only has a 3:34.8 converted from his indoor mile PB; also not competitive beyond USA's at 1500m.
If Engels can drop has 1500m, he could join the Leo and Centro level of 1500m specialist with a "good" 800m, but until then he's the inverse of Murphy, Brazier and Symmonds - 800m studs with the superstar talent that translates into the ability to run ~3:35 for 1500m, without being 1500m guys.
Krumm with 1:43.92 and 3:31.93 and Webb at 1:43.84 and 3:46.91y are better representations of 800/1500 crossovers like Makhloufi and Kaki in the current era, and Coe et al from the 80s.

Sorry, to clarify - Engles ≠ Murphy/Brazier/Symmonds stud level. Just a 1500m guy with good footspeed. His 1:44.6 is indicative of ability, much like 3:34, but he's only broken 1:46 once and time will tell if he can keep improving across the board.
Boy are you all dumb. OP = Nick Symmonds humble bragging about his build. Obvious.
6/10
I am really out of the loop, but I finally got around to watching some of Symmonds YouTube videos and I have to admit that they’re very entertaining. Nick is a fun guy who is really promoting the sport and he has the credentials to do that.
I really liked the commentary on the races that he won and it was funny how his coaches were basically telling him he had literally no chance of beating Rudisha! But he could try to medal! LOL.
I find it quite funny that people are critical of his 200 reps. Most people here can’t hit multiple 26’s to save their lives and he’s doing it several years removed from any sort of competitive track event with extra lbs on his frame.
So many haters.
Every symmonds video:

Every Youtuber shills products and does gimmicks for likes. Nick is no different. But it's much better content than some person who famous for absolutely nothing or doesn't have any sort of accomplishments in their past which are interesting to hear about.
I don't think his videos are interesting

nick would have benefitted by losing 5 pounds. not more.
but the challenge would to be to take it off in the right places.
and keep up the same intense traning, and keep the power.
on the other hand, most distance runners and 1500 can use a few more pounds, particularly for power generation, in the ass upper legs. and a bit in the upper body for balance,.
probably you want to do a month specific training on sprinting power related leg activity, once you recover from the season, two times per year,
few do this, and people lose their speed.
sebastian coe, however, figured it out.
people kind of cross train now, but it's probably not optimal, haphazard,
i'd say to focus on weights power, like 2 x per year and lower the mileage, then back off and do mostly the specific traning, which is running, and there you want to focus the quality on what you do, your event.
something which back in the day, they failed to do.
nick by the way was the best all time racer and performer in the 800m by far.
why?
he performed to his max almost in every big meet period.
and his tactics were nearly perfect
nick was the GOAT performer in relation to ability.
he was never defeated in college, and 6 time national champ.
in a country, the usa, which always has world top 10 800m runners
amazing fact, nick was a very good cross country runner with a 47.5 quarter.
on the downside, this sex idol stuff, is the ultimate cringe. vomit.
I remember reading somewhere he dated paris hilton

I think the cool thing about the 800m is that there are so many different approaches you can take and end up with the same results. Sprinters are buff, marathoners are slender, 800m runners? It can vary.
Coe 5’9 120
Vasquez 6’1 175,
Brazier 6’1 165
Hoppel 6’0 150
Snell 6’0 179(!!!!)
The 800 is all about the power/endurance ratio and some people are better off with more on the power side while some are better with endurance.
I personally am not world class, I’m a D1 mid-packer, but I’m 6’1 175 and run much faster than I did at 160-165. I have a much better speed reserve with the extra 10 lbs of muscle.
Alberto Juantorena : 6.3” & 185lb ..wiki.
Makhoufi's also pretty buff, 5 9 154 pounds
Borzakovskiy is also 160
