He’s only the favorite in the 1500 and 5k, and not an overwhelming favorite in either.
If he does this he will likely be outgunned by Timothy Cheruiyot in the process
..so close to Jakob’s PB of 1:46.44
...but Jakob was 20 y.o. when he ran that time however...
Hope that Hocker gets another shot at 800m in a fast race.

No Jakob was 19 when he ran 1:46.48 last year in June (Jakob is about 9 month older than Hocker)
Dang, I almost want to see that race play out if the ISU guy would've hugged the inside. Seems like he had plenty of run in him but would've needed to swing wide.
I don't get some of the back & forth. This is a good run for someone coming off of a fast indoor mile. It's a PB and the splits show he can likely go faster.
Jakob focuses on both the 1500 & 5k. It makes sense that he has ridiculous strength to go 1:46-3:28-13:02. Even if Cole goes 1:44-45, it's not a guarantee that he breaks 3:30 but this is a good start for him.
Since everybody now runs in “clown shoes” which magically make you a superstar, lol, I guess running is just a clown sport. Everyone should quit running now and let’s end this sad sport. Maybe we should try a sport where zero equipment is required. I heard the international body is going to ban comfortable chairs for chess.

The same tech in “clown shoes” gets put into all the other sport-specific shoes. Basketball, tennis, etc. so who cares?

I saw that Luis Peralta ran the 400m in the CR DMR, so I thought that he was a 400m runner. I see now that he was already an 800m runner in high school. Anyway, he just ran 1:47 to take third behind Hocker in the 800m, along with that 3:46-7.
Hunter's still arguably better at 800m, and ran 1:45 indoors. However, Hocker with a 3:50 and ability to close a quick race in 25 high is on his way to a 1:44 or better this year, and that might well be enough to take the U.S. title at 1500m and be competitive for a medal.
Hunter wasn't wearing super spikes for his times. Hocker is. Gotta account for the big time advantage
Matt Wisner, a senior transfer from Duke, promptly ran a 6 second pr in the 1500m to get very close to 4:00 equivalent at 3:42.9.
