This is pretty interesting stuff. There are certainly a lot of shufflers as a percentage of race finishers but I think even among just competitive hobby joggers most of those athletes likely increase stride length significantly more than cadence. For me personally my cadence increases from 170(give or take 2-3 steps) to at the most 190 but my stride length during races goes up massively close to 50% longer over 10k, granted I probably do easy runs slower than people at my level.
