Lol, that was my first thought as well. I heard something this morning about him and an underage person and just assumed it was another guy before reading more closely.

What is wrong with you, Rojo?

This might be a sow-your-wild-oats type of deal. He wanted "son" Nestor wanted to make sure girls were icky before making their dad-son commitment.
Gaetz made the following odd statement during a phone interview. "I believe that there are people at the Department of Justice who are trying to criminalize my sexual conduct, you know when I was a single guy."
He seems to imply he is no longer single.
https://www.axios.com/matt-gaetz-sexual-misconduct-investigation-2755fd4f-f72e-4283-b8ac-9233c952b914.htmlI hate Gaetz as much as anyone and wish him nothing but the worst. Yet, age of consent laws are strange. Should a 30+ year old guy be having sex with a 17 year old girl? No. Do we need to make it a crime if a 30+ year old guy has consensual sex with a 17 year old girl? Maybe? Maybe not? Shouldn't the girls parents be able shut down this sort of relationship without having to call the cops? And shouldn't the 30+ year old guy get ostracized by his friends and family until he stopped the relationship? If having consensual sex with a 17 year old girl is illegal, why does it suddenly become legal when she turns 18? And should it be illegal for a 17 year old girl to have sex with her HS boyfriend who was a Jr. when she was a freshman and is now 20 and a sophomore in college? There are certainly situations where the relationship is more of a concern because the guy is in a position of power. But there is a lot of gray between what is clearly wrong (pre-pubescent girls) and what is just creepy and a bad idea.
I too, can't stand Gaetz but a 17 yr old female can look like a 22 year old.
If both wanted it thats fine.
Laws really need to recognize 1/2 + 7 rule. So a 30 year old can only have sex with people 22 and above. A 20 year old should be able to have sex with a 17 year old.

If she told him she was 22, but was only 17 - that seems like it would be more on her if he truly didn't know.
From what I heard this sounds way more complicated than that and I don't wish these types of troubles on anyone!
Well pre-pubescent is like 0-12 or 13, right?
I also think about, when I was 13, I had a huge crush on Larisa Oleynik, who was like 15-16 at the time. If I watch Secret Life of Alex Mack now, I still have a crush on her, but it wasn't creepy when I was still 13-17, but when I turned 18 I'm supposed to not find her attractive?
I guess the point is, there is a notable difference between recognizing that a person has an adult body and engaging in sexual intercourse with that person.
Don't know if Gaetz is innocent or guilty of the crime. What is not in dispute is that Gaetz is a complete and utter douchebag. His stunt with the huge gas mask alone is proof of that.
The age of consent used to be 13 in Spain which is severely alarming. I don't really want to comment on this but personally I am not sure if 17, well, I don't know.
Another wrinkle is where he's alleged to have taken her. I would assume it's DC. The age of consent in Florida is 18, but in DC it's 16. Seems crazy for it to be a Federal crime for him to take his girlfriend to DC to have sex with her when it is perfectly legal to have sex with a 17 year old there.
You hate Gaetz..because why exactly..?! This should be good...can’t wait to read about your hate.

This sexual allegation stuff is typical smear stuff that can rarely be proven anyway.
Enough for the purposes of character assassination though. Look at Julian Assange , when the USA wanted him to be extradited suddenly out of nowhere: rape charges! How convenient.
Forget Hunter Biden. I think it all has something to do with Benghazi.

It doesn't matter that you don't know. There is state age 18 law and a Federal law that keeps interstate travelers from breaking that state law. In one state the law can be age 17 and that makes no difference. The law was broken, and worse for Gaetz, he paid he to travel out of state with him. Gaetz has to be the stupidest lawyer in Congress to think he can get around Florida sex laws by traveling to another state to get around the restriction on his wild loins.

That is like saying a 14 year old can like like a 19 year old. If both wanted it that’s fine. You are a danger to minors.

Hillary will be arrested any day now. lmao
Yes. There will probably be some tiny germ of truth to the Gaetzes' ridiculous story, which will be underlaid by something even worse for them.
They probably tried hard to bribe someone at DOJ and then make it look like that guy was trying to 'extort' them, or something along those lines.
Perhaps they even found some scumbag Trumpist nut-job close to this investigation, and tried to work some crazy scheme with him.
The good thing about Gaetz is that he's *really* f***ing dumb, and it's extremely likely he'll only end up incriminating himself even further.
Watching this pile of human puke go down for the count will be such a glorious day for America we should probably make a federal holiday of it.

This was a report concerning one of the older accusations against Matt Gaetz:

Yes, that's just one little piece of the body of public knowledge that tells any halfway reasonable observer who Gaetz is, and allows them to make reasonable inferences about what really happened here, and who's probably lying. (Small hint: when a guy like Matt Gaetz is *breathing*, it's damn near guaranteed he's lying.)
Of course, there will still be lots of guys, like Rojo, who choose to know *nothing* about the circumstances and people involved, and then claim to be 'mystified' about the truth of the matter.
It's a special kind of willful stupidity.
Gaetz boasted last night that there are no pics of him with child prostitutes. So nobody photographed his behavior is what he appears to be asserting.

Yeah, he also, IIRC, insisted that he hadn't 'traveled with any 17-year-old.' Not that he didn't have sex with one, or with a 15-year-old, etc.
A very strangely *specific* denial of one detail that purposely ignores the much bigger issues.
Gaetz is the kind of rich-boy low-life who thinks the fact that Daddy bought his way into law school, and then (literally) bought his way into Congress makes him *smart*.
(A whole lot like, well, every single person in the Trump family.)
He's about to find out how horribly wrong he is on that score.
