Ever since the early days of LetsRun.com, I realized that so many in our sport fail to enjoy the current stars and prefer to focus on the potential of the teenagers,.
In that light, can we all admit that Nico Young is old news and not even the most talented guy in his family. ;)
In 10 years, will Nico remind us all of Henrik Ingebrigtsen? Sure getting 5th at the Olympics at age 21 is impressive but no one remembers it 10 years later when a younger brother takes hom a bronze and an even younger brother breaks 3:30.
In that light, Nico's younger brother Lex ran 8:57 for 3200 last weekend. That's pretty damn good for a sophomore. Is the sophomore 2-mile record still Cole Sprout's 3200m 8:49.45? Can he break that?
Sundown Track Series #3 3200m:
Championship Section:
1. Lex Young, Unattached, 8:57.27
2. Bryce Gilmore, Unattached, 9:00.43
3. Daniel Appleford, Unattached, 9:04.03
Lex ran 14:27 indoors which is right at 8:59 for 2 miles according to John Kellogg's conversion chart so this is very much in line with that.
