No his indoor PR does not necessarily suggest the time he ran, but he has been capable of a 19.8x for two years he's ran a windy 19.64 in 2019(which covers to 19.84). He likely can run a tenth faster as he had no competition, he appeared to ease up slightly, and its the beginning of outdoor he may not be in peak shape.
He may not run faster but I can see him running 19.70 with a few more races.
I like this view, a bit, too.
Seeing him and Boling face off for conference AND NCAAs is gonna be a legit treat. They should both be rearing to go for those races, for sure.
What they have left for the trials may be up for debate, though. It's not unreasonable to question whether EITHER of them will have much left all the way through rounds then to the trials final after a season of fighting each other for conference and national titles. That ISN'T to say it's impossible. But you have to wonder how any system/plan, no matter how nuanced, could ask ANY runner to make it through their conferences, regionals, AND nationals....and THEN be ready to access their most "important" effort at the trials FINAL after rounds with VETS, not just their peers. Those are practically all lined up in a row. Burnout would seem to be inevitable.
A sacrifice or two would also seem to be needed. Like maybe conference takes a back seat or something, or maybe skipping a 200m at conference entirely? Seems absurd, but aiming for a full/peaked effort at the trials might require that kind of thinking. Would either program, or runner, be willing to do that? With Georgia's search for points with Boling, I'm feeling like no. Maybe LSU and their history will make them more willing to make such moves? I dunno, it all remains to be seen.
