I've liked a lot of the New Balance motion control Herman Munster boots over the years.
I'll pause while you ridicule me.
They've been some of the best shoes I've had. And some of the worst. I had a pair about 10 years ago that just fell apart. Bad glue or something. They had those complicated multiple piece construction that was popular then. Pieces just fell off.
Then I had a pair that cut my ankles. Apparently I brush the inner heel of my shoes against the ankle bone of the other leg. Never really noticed, perhaps there would be some dirt scuff marks on my inner ankle bones. But after the first run in one pair of NB shoes, my ankles were bleeding. There was a sharp, arrow-shaped piece of plastic on the inside of the heel. Needless to say, I returned them after one run.
Another pair was on Joes New Balance Outlet for a long time and kept getting cheaper. I finally bought a pair for like $30. They were awful and I can't tell you exactly why. I just hated them. The second run I thought maybe putting some replacement insoles in would fix it. I stopped halfway through the run and pulled the insoles out. I returned them even though with shipping I hardly got anything. In reason for return, I put "I hate them".
Have run in Hokas the past 6 years and I've liked all of them, some more than others. I do find that the uppers fall apart fairly soon. The outsoles last a long time if you can keep the uppers together.
